Check with an area Ready Mix concrete plant, quarry or some sort of manufacturing industry where they have conveyor belts in operation. These belts periodically need to be replaced. Conveyor belting is basically "tire" material and can be very difficult and expensive to get rid of. I know the ready mix I work at routinely gives it away to farmers, contractors, ect. People treat it like gold because it is so handy and versitale. Me and all my buddies took old 36" wide conveyor belt that is 1/4 in thickness and screwed it to the wood trailer deck with stainless steel screws. The stuff is "tough as nails". It will stand up to studs, carbides, you name it. Before we covered our wood decks we all applied several coats of thompson water seal. My trailer was new in 1996, and still looks new to this day after all the years of weather, elements and abuse. Im telling yah, rubber conveyor belt is the only way to go... FYI if you are able to find some belting cutting it with a utility knife is easy. Simply score the surface a few times. Once you get it cut completely thru in a spot simply grab on side and pull upwards and away as you cut and the knife will go right thru like unzipping a zipper
