Another dumb question, the wood that I tore off the trailer was riveted down (original), what is best to put new wood on with, self tapping screws would be fine but would like a bigger head, rivets like org.,not real crazy about this but none of the old rivets were broke, or a carriage type bolt with nut? or any other ideas. thanks for your input.

They actually make a self tapping deck screw just for trailers with a larger head and fit flush with deck. My brother got them from Select Fastener or Fasten All.

I wouldn't go the rivet route but don't really know if there is any performance difference you'll notice for this application between the screws or bolts. I'd pick the easier and more cost effective method. Just make sure they are flat with your decking (don't want the shovel to get hung up on a bolt head when you're moving snow off it) and compatable with your wood material.
