Trailer Locks Frozen

I use the blue out door master locks with the cap over the keyhole. Then spray WD40 in them and put them on upside down so the keyhole is facing up. I do take them off while traveling down the road to keep road salt from working its way into them.

X2 on installing these type locks upside down. That always worked for me as well.

Buy Pro Master locks or others like them that have plastic cover around them and the key hole $20 to $30 per lock, or do like the other people do leave them in the truck until you get to your hotel then put them on and put a ziplock bag around them I learned the hard way last here it snowed while I was gone for 2 days then the sun came out and melted it and refroze in the lock, mini torch works good.

Buy a set of high quality brass locks...they do not seem to ice up as much as the others. I also cut a flap of inner tube to go over the top of the lock.

I still keep a small torch in my tool box, as they will occasionally freeze up.

I tried the weather proof master locks, and they are junk...plus, you can't use a torch on 'em, because you'll melt the useless plastic coating.

I use electrical ties on the end of small plastic grocery bags. They are cheap and easy to cut off to get to the locks.

Here's how I put tennis balls over my locks. This last set has lasted me about 5 years. The locks are on while driving, all the time. I can't remember the last time I had one freeze on me. I have more problems with my truck tailgate lock and roll top cover lock. The only down side is that the cloth covers on the tennis balls do get wet and sloppy from road spray. I keep an old pair of chore gloves under my truck seat for taking the locks off when we unload.

Trying to find out what everybody uses for locks on their trailer?
I have tried using a few different versions of Master Lock weather proof stainless locks and they always end up frozen. If its not frozen, then we have to deal with the salt from the roads jamming them up.....
Suggestions?

I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer/disinfectant in the car for fishing and for lock de-icing. Just wipe it on the key and insert in lock. Sometimes it takes a double dose, but it works. And it does a good job on the sled hold down screw as well. If all else fails, the torch is a must have too.
