Had my brand new 2013 Triton XT10-101 enclosed taken out of my driveway last night. If anyone has info, PM me or contact the Racine County Sheriff's Department. Thanks

Good idea EF. If I can figure out how....trailer had mats, guides, tie downs, spare tire, etc. Had a good lock on it and the crooks even took my wheel chocks!

BTW, make sure you insure your trailers as a listing on your policy. Don't expect your homeowners to cover it.

Looks like this:

Just a general thought, would thieves be cutting these trailers up and scrapping them? Quite a bit of aluminum there? What would they do with it as you wouldn't want to get caught towing it and get into an accident. Can't get insurance on it.... Makes you think it could be for scrapping and then parting out sleds if they would be in there too. Desperate people out there.....

Harski is probably right on the money with his opinion. We have a lot of aluminum trailers stolen down here and they are almost always cut up for scrap. Here is my suggestion to you. Go to the closest scrapyard and ask the employee(s) if anyone has recently brought in a cut up trailer. Almost all of the scrpayerds have surveillance cameras, and they usually always take a driver's license from the scrapper. I wouldn't wait to long to do this because the video system may overwrite itself.

One more thing make sure the Trailer's serial number gets entered in LEADS by the Police. Without that if they are using it and get stopped it won't hit as a steal.

hey streetglide i am here in tichigan off of 164 and i had my 2008 triton just like the one you had, stolen from my yard during the daytime 3years ago. they cut the lock as well and seemed like theres got to be some locals around the area scooping out the trailers around here. ill keep my eye out but im thinkn they are scrapping them. any good markings on it?

If I'm correct, I think the Madison area scrap yards work closely with law enforcement writing down vehicle numbers and description of materials being recycled. They may be even using software to network the information too. I know copper vases at cemeterys and contruction sites have been hit hard the last few years which has contributed to better tracking methods.

Yeah Tee, I'm in Tichigan too really over on Townline Rd. Town cop lives 1/2 mile down the road also - doesn't matter. I'll check with the guys at Kral for any aluminum tomorrow.

No special markings. I could identify if it was in front of me based on a few subtle things. Did have an "AER trailer sales" sticker on back corners of sides.

Deputy took all the info and mentioned it would go on alert of some sort.

I made a mistake not insuring it as it's own entity. Looks like I may get $1K back out of it from Acuity so I'm out $2K min.

Unreal tho, that I had the thing up north since mid January. Brought it home, washed it up good and put it in it's place Sun. eve. Gone when I went to work. Home for only like 12 hours.

Thanks for the responses guys

Oh man, that really sucks. It sounds like the sleds were somewhere else at least so you got lucky there. Maybe call some scrap yards in IL since you're not too far away. I know there are places in Fox Lake that scrap metal and am sure there are others.

Had mine stolen a year ago almost to the date. It was almost a one of a kind with the different things I did to it, so I'm sure it got cut up.

Alter metals here in Janesville(also located in Madison) recently got in a jam(multiple counts) for accepting stolen property....Plenty of this activity going on...

I was going to leave my trailer in the driveway tomorrow, as I just dug it out so I could get the sleds out and go for a ride. I decided instead, after reading this post, that I will just take it to work until I have time to put it where it usually resides.

Sorry to hear about the trailer theft, but maybe your post prevented another one from being stolen!
