hate to say it but...just an open invitation, have sled...sticker...will travel, its truly sad that clubs have to work that hard to deter it.

Just incredible not even a full week into the season and it's already started. At this rate it will not take long to close more trails and I wouldn't be blame landowners one bit.

Yeah. I think the other tracks are the guys repairing the damage. I clicked onto the facebook page and read some of the posts and definitely snowmobiles went through there.

Here in Wisconsin, the trails have to be approved and opened by the county. Gates are closed until it has been approved. The problem is when they are approved, not all signs/gates, fences are opened. Since trails officially open in Michigan on Dec 1, that might be what those sledders were thinking. Not condoning what they did, but that might be what they were thinking that the gate/fence was just missed for the opening. It's happened here just down the road from my place. The local club forgot to open one of the gates. It happens.

Agreed that happens all the time and it is wrong but then to compound to the problem when then the out of towners see tracks they think it is ok also. I used to own land that had 3300 feet of power line right away and even when posted the years I puts tracks in it it seemed to invite others the years I didn’t ride it most stayed out. So it is a real thing that can happen.

A few years back we had decent snow on the ground after dec 1st so headed out only to find the trailhead north of town still gated and locked so turned around and headed back but had me wondering who makes the decision to open the trails? The club...the DNR....?

Typically in Wisconsin, the Clubs meet with the County and then they decide based on the conditions reported from each club on their trails to open or not. Not sure how it's done in Michigan though.

Saw that earlier in the week on FB.

What is startling is the reaction to sled trespassing posts on FB. About 2/3rds to 3/4ths will be folks that are equally perturbed at the behavior, but what is shocking is the total lack of give-a-sh*t and LOL-type messages from the other 1/3rd to 1/4th. Like a bunch of grown men who have the intellect of elementary school children.

I’ve long thought that sledding has a substantial loser, white trash, low IQ contingent that I’ve never seen in any other sport or hobby. It’s weird. Really weird.
