Different strokes for different folks, or perhaps different strokes for different rides, I guess.

I can certainly see the merits of having a well planned out trip- especially when you are traveling with a group and are backpacking from one locale to another. Nice to have the piece of mind that when you arrive at your destination for the night you will have a room. Eliminates stress and allows you to take your time and enjoy the ride.

Totally different story if you are heading out by yourself or maybe with a bud for the "Sunday Ride" and are going to depart from your own home and return to your own home. Then the "any which way the wind blows" method works fine.

thanks for the replies so far guys.

Not planning much of a route anymore since there is a bigger group going. Now just looking for a place to stay. Found a place near chassell, but not sure how convenient gas and food would be. Found a cabin at wildlife refuge cabins but not sure if we want to stay right on the trail. Seems like it would be a loud busy location.

any thoughts?

Wildlife refuge cabins are "adjacent" to the trail, not right on it. It won't be noisy, other than the brappers in the parking lot. You would not regret your stay there.-Mezz

Not sure how many sleds but we would break into groups of 4 like style riders so entire group not hung up with slowpoke or broken sled. Then there is always the guy who sleeps late while sleds are warming up & others good to go.lol Know your group of riders can't keep everyone happy. Who are good leaders & sweepers get that understood up front so no racing on trails for pack position.:) More people more problems. lol

Found a house to rent in Twin Lakes. Reserved it today. There are now 8 of us going. We will split up into two groups of 4 most likely (to keep the peace between the fast trail milers and the slower play along the way riders)

Thanks for all the help guys. If there is a scenic spot that you think everyone should check out atleast once let me know because none of us have been to the keweenaw before. :)
