Hi all,
We're considering a trip to the Bayfield area this year. Any one have hotel / restaurant recommendations? We're sledding up from Vilas county so we need it to be on the trail system.

Thanks for your help.

Two motels in Washburn: North Coast Inn & Super 8 (Super 8 has changed names-I don't know the current name, but I've stayed there. Time Out restaurant is a couple blocks from the Super 8 and next door to the North Coast Inn. Isle Vista Casino at Red Cliff (new motel/casino), gas a short distance from casino, at times the trail is iffy getting to Red Cliff. There are pit stops in Herbster, Port Wing, Cornicopia & gas. A MUST stop in Northern Bayfield in the Valhalla area is the Pub & Grub--excellent food, also has gas. I've been sledding in this area for many, many years.

Trails down to Washburn can get iffy IMO. Do you want to stay in Bayfield or just Bayfield County? The trail to Red Cliff was closed last year, don't know if it will be re-opening. Unless something specifically drawing you to stay in Bayfield, I would consider staying somewhere more central in Bayfield County like Iron River which is super easy to get in and out of as the Tri County Corridor (trail 2) runs right through it.

X 2 on Iron River. Super easy to get in and out of. Bayfield and Red Cliff...not sure much. Never sledded into Washburn so I can't speak of that. From Iron River you can easily get up to the Pub n Grub (agreed...a must stop) and everywhere in Northern Bayfield County.

excellent information, still in the planning stages, awesome information! It sounds like somewhere near Iron river is the best bet!

Thanks

The C-Store has non-ethanol premium in IR. You have the Lumbermen's and Rustic Roost Cabins for lodging. The Rustic Roost has a restaurant too. Very good breakfast to start the day off right.
