I have a 02 550 zl I'm looking in to extending in to 136. What is the best way to do it. Is it better to use a kit or find 136 skid. Who makes the best kit? Is it true that cat makes the kits for tracks usa?

Go to TracksUSA and get the extension kit and track. After selling my 121 track, I was into my extension about $750 (Fusion to a 144"). Buying a new skid will cost you over $1,000, unless you can just get by on rails only.

I've been to TracksUSA place, and they sell out of a polebarn on their homestead. Don't know if they manufacture the extensions themselves or not. Either way, me and my buddy bought them and they were great.

I think i'm going to drive over there today. I live only about 10 mile away. Just to take a look to see what I'm getting in to.

Just a suggestion but if you are going to go to the trouble of extending the skid and track, go all the way to 144. Put at least a 1.5 inch lug on there too.

Once you do this, you won't believe how much better the sled rides particularly when the trails get bumpy. Off trail...well there is no comparison at all. If you like the config, then next year change the gearing to augment your new sled.

I used tracks usa on a zr o few yrs back nice brackets went with the larger rear wheel plate.used there tunnel ext also. I had a track.best thing I ever did to that sled. I have seen used rail ext on snowest and hardcore from time to time but You most deff want the rail kits that you slide your hyfax on not the cheep flat plate no hyfax holding or even routered to fit in old skid holes.I think slp was one of the junk ones very clear what style is best Even from a bad pic

I put a 144 X 1.5 on my 06 121 nytro from tracks usa and it went great! tunnel ext fit and looks stock. used the 2 deg tip up rails. sled rides better and the off trail kicks but. I am thinking of doing my other yamaha it went so well. $950. for the kit is better then $9000 for a new sled. Tracks usa guy was very helpfull.

I have used Tracksusa extensions on 2 of my sleds. Quality is great and they are helpful on the phone. I personally think that I would stay with the 136" for your sled, the 550 might be a little under powered for the 144", but it would depend on what are you looking to do with your sled. Trail ride? Off trail? No matter which on you choose, the longer track will improve the ride of your sled.

While I would not do any engine less powerful to 144, that 550 is plenty strong and you won't be disappointed. After you do it and find you like it, then gear it down a bit and watch the low end pick up nicely. You won't be a lake racer but the machine will crank it out and off trail will deliver a smile to your face. You will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
