Turned the heat on today for the first time.

This storm is pretty cold. Primarily, I guess, because of the wind. 40+ mph gusts recently with temperatures falling from 52 to 47 here.

I'm excited for winter.

It got down to 56 degrees in my bedroom.

I didn't turn the heat on personally, 'twas my landlord.

But my point is - it's making excited about winter.

Oh yeah the heat went on yesterday 46 blowing and rain gets bone chilling. I wanted a fire but wife said no turn the heat on and it did cycle a lot trying to get furniture and rest of house warmed up to 68. No use getting nail pops in the dry wall for a few cold days.

I got one of those FB Memories a couple days ago about a post I made last year that I turned the heat on. This year it's looking like mid October before it goes on for me. But still, I'm looking forward to winter, in fact it seems like I'm a little more excited this year than the last couple.

I've got 6 degrees before I hit the magic $ button...
So you let your inside temp drop to 55 degrees before you turn your furnace on? What is your setpoint for the rest of the winter?

My inside temp was 64 degrees yesterday, and that felt chilly to me. Turrned the furnace on and set it to 66, felt awesome! I usually have it set anywhere between 66 and 69 the rest of the winter.

I had some inside 55 deg days last fall with all the windows wide open as the wife is always "hot" now since she is getting up in the years :). This is a complete turn around as before she needed an electric blanket in the truck on our trips up north as I always like a cool drive but I can assure you inside the truck was not in the 50s that I have to experience now. We set our home around 65 and I still get complaints that it is too warm inside...

I set mine at 65 and try to slowly lower it to 60 during the winter. I have a little built into the wall electric heater close to my bed that has a thermostat on it so I can adjust it during the night if i get cold.
