I want to see how they get that thing to a stop with out tipping.on takeoff the wing wheels fall off on landing the guy lands on just center wheels no wing wheels then on tarmac has wing wheels I would think just a twitch on the wheel and you could plant a wing

I tried to get those guy's to give me a ride on the SR71 but they would have no part of it. So then , I said " well lets fire up that other " sled " over there and check that out " ? Next thing was the guy's in black suits......

The term he was looking for was "Bloody Gobsmacked". How can a Brit be short for words?;)

Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

The guy in second seat is James May. He is part of the BBC’s top gear trio. James has his own Discovery type show on the BBC. This video was on his show in the UK last week. What they do not show on this video is the 2 Camaro’s that drive alongside and reattach the 2 outside wing landing gear, before the plane comes to a stop.

That explains it. Thank!

I'll have to start a thread and post up some pictures of some old WWII warbirds and such. When I lived on the east coast I used to attend the MAAM WWII Airshow each year. It is pretty cool to say I met Tibbits and Van Kirk (pilot and navigator) of the Enola Gay; the plane that dropped the first atomic bomb, and others notable people from WWII. I also flew in a T6 Trainer.

Bring it.... I have some Saturn V rocket motor pics, lunar rover pics, love that stuff. Child of the 60's myself, they used to roll the TV's in the classroom and we would watch the moon landings @ school. Love all that stuff.

i had the unique priviledge of seeing this plane up close. i play in a band that did a middle east tour 'for the troops'. 5 countries in the gulf. the U2 spy plane flies out of an air force base in the UAE. we first got a lecture/demo on the space suit, then got to ride in the chase vehicle (this was cool), and meet and take a pic with the pilot after he landed. not many people see this plane that close. i am the guy with the bleach blonde hair/tank top.
