U.P. commercial listings

I was just looking through the website for a U.P. based realtor and noticed over 330 commercial listings for central and western Yoop. Wow! Seems like an excessive number, and I am sure more will be added once the weather warms up. These are listings for this individual realtor, I am sure total RMLS numbers for commercial property is even higher.

They are cheap in Ironwood too and several of them. Especially in the down town area. Very hard for a business to make it here. Money's tight, we need the mines to open up again for sure. I want to turn this one building into a music store with lessons and a recodring studio with so many bands and live music around.

Sounds like a great idea, lots of musical talent in the U.P., Red White and Blues out of Amasa was one of my favorites. Would the locals support it? When I had my cabin in Iron River, the biggest complaint I heard from local business owners is that the local population does not support local business, especially restaurants. From the number of establishments that close down in Central U.P., unfortunately I would say this is very true. Maybe they cannot afford to eat out much?

idk?...who has lean green to pay for studio time? ...then what from there? Basically 4 major labels not a lot of indy stuff going on anymore. Big investment for digital recording studio ...I'm not seeing ROI.

I can buy awesome computer based recording bundles for around a $1000. Check out any Musicians Friend or Guitar Center.....Not major label stuff, locally like several bands need demos for the local Bayfield Battle of the Bands each year...... I have experience in the studio. Who has the green? While many people dont make much around here there are lots of people doing well. They could afford $20 an hour which would be the starting rate. What does ROI mean?

... Well that sucks we should support our local business' which i do... ...Money can be a factor when shopping or eating anywhere , your good budget resturants do well here like the Breakwater and Mike's Resturant, Uptown Cafe.....Granted many of these poeple go to what they know and like so a new resturant of pizza place may have trouble like i have seen.

Just a dumb little dream I have. I'm not quiting my day job. Buying homes cheap and remodeling them is my first priority after I finish mine. But anyway yes real cheap commerical real estate in the downtown area of Ironwood especially because most of the traffic is on the main highway route 2.

the lady said that somebody asks about a music store or a place to record a song about once a week....

Asking about and actually spending money on something are totally different.

I run a farm here and constantly have people asking about buying hay, cattle, chickens, eggs, vegetables, etc. But when it comes time to actually fork over the cash most of the "askers" disappear...

Hay has to be pretty expensive U.P. there with the lack of multiple cuttings....

Cheaper than most other places. I've sent a lot of hay southbound on semis over the years as even with trucking hay from UP here is cheaper than places down south.

Several people asking about a product or service shows there is a potential for this type of business..Also playing the music scene and speaking with other muscians i hear the same thing...Plus the only store in the area closed and retired after more than 30 years......As far as spending I buy local eggs, milk, beef and (veggies when in season)...... If people and inquire but dont buy?.... My first thought is the price, may not as good as other places. (You stated this is NOT the case with your hay) I understand but for eggample (haha) the lady at the Vet in my town sells eggs that are a dollar more a dozen than my friend sells them. She could say the same not knowing i'm just speding my money elsewhere to keep my cost down as anybody would. Most people wont speak up, they will just not return and get the items they need elswhere. aka tire kickers inquiring for the most part trying to obtain the best deal.
