Didn't that cougar that was in Milton get blown away in Chicago by a bunch of trigger happy cops? (no offence if your a police officer) I remember over 18 rounds fired and they also took out someone's AC unit with a stray bullet.

Yep, found it: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-chicago-cougar-shot-webapr15,0,9814 7.story

At first, I'm thinking there's a gun battle in the street," said Greene
The officers had shot holes in an air conditioning unit on the side of Greene's house while aiming for the tan cougar, which died in the alley near Greene's garage.

The Illinois DNR has passed new rules imposing a daily bag limit of 4 Cougars with no more than 4 Cougars in possession at any one time. Baiting is illegal; Cougar in heat and old man masking scents may be used. Bonus tags are available for purchase for use in Chicago only. The DNR retains the right to increase limits if necessary to control the Cougar population.

This cougar was spotted and treed two different times near Spooner, WI within the last year or so. I know the guy that the DNR called to use his dogs to tree it. They tried to tranquilize it but failed as it was too high in the tree and they didn't want to injure it as it fell to the ground. The DNR wanted him to continue trying to tree the cougar but he felt they were stressing the cat too much. I was careful with my dog for several weeks, that's for sure.

MI DNR had to confirm cougar this time if everything checked out. Which it did. MI and other Mid-West DNR doesnt want to cross the line into "Cougars are Breeding" and then Fed Endangered Acts kick in.
More regs, programs, and State money. With no return.

And since these are the same exact species, which means they are the same animal...we must conclude that there are more than one??? Or does that mean going up stream they are cougars and down Mt. Lions, or visa versa??

Back in 1995 around the fall time my son, daughter, and I were traveling across the seney stretch about 1:30 am and had a big cat cross the road right in front of us and all three of us seen it. My bright lights were on because there wasn't any traffic out. I'm telling you 3 or 5 seconds sooner and it would have been all over the front of the suburban we had at the time.
