Might want to check with your sheriff to be sure you are correct-

Section 11. 167.31 (2) (b) of the statutes, as affected by 2011 Wisconsin Act 35, is renumbered 167.31 (2) (b) (intro.) and amended to read:
167.31 (2) (b) (intro.) Except as provided in sub. (4), no person may place, possess, or transport a firearm, bow, or crossbow in or on a vehicle, unless the one of the following applies:
1. The firearm is unloaded or is a handgun, as defined in s. 175.60 (1) (bm), unless the firearm is unloaded and encased, or unless the.
2. The bow or crossbow is unstrung or is enclosed in a carrying case does not have an arrow nocked.

the rule change only applies to handguns and you have to have a permit if you want to conceal it. you can have one loaded in a holster on your seat without a permit but what are you gonna do when you get to where your going. you would have to unload to store it away where noone could see it or you will come back to find it gone with a busted window.my app is in the mail.i took an 8 hour live fire course. it was fun

sb228 is totally different than what you are talking about. you are talking about ccw laws. sb228 is for having uncased long guns or bows in or on a motorized vehicle. unloaded while in motion, or loaded while not in motion. basically the loaded while not in motion is for when you load your gun and have to set it down you can set it on your hood or tailgate instead of the ground or up against a tree.

It has been that way in ND as long as I can remember, we can have shells in the magazine but none in the chamber, MN changed their rules a year or two ago also, you can have an uncased gun in your vehicle except in towns over a certain population. It is no big deal, and we have had zero problems with it.

i did hear that in my class. before if you leaned your long gun on your vehicle they would get you for hunting from a vehicle. all walker is trying to do is reign in the dnr.he is just what this state needed in our time of almost bankruptcy.imo
