uneven carbide wear

I have a 2015 Indy that seems to wear uneven on the carbides. The front will wear through and be almost all the way through the wear bar while the back will still look brand new. Any ideas what I should do? Would shims solve this problem?

Yes google "ski Shimming" and you will get all kinds of results. It would put more pressure on the back of the ski helping the ride but to your point helping the wear of the carbide.

yep. You need more weight on the tail of the skis. I did this and it improved the steering. Then bought Bergstroms, with the ski savers and shims it it got even better.

You sure the ski rubbers between the ski and the spindle are installed the correct way? Mine were installed backwards on my 16 Pro rmk by the dealer.

Love my Bergstrom triple points, took care of my issues, including darting on hard packed trails. They come with the ski shims.

This could be the issue,and/or a weight distribution issue, i.e. coil over shock spring?Just a thought.-Mezz

I have solved wear and darting issues with Bergstrom Triple points also.
1/4" thick shims is what he sends for 2 stroke sleds, 3/8 for 4 stroke platforms.

I was looking at the bergstroms and they said their carbides come with ski savers. Is this all I need to correct the wear problem?

No the ski savers are nice but it is the shims that you need to level out your skis. Shims work with any carbides on any pair of skis. Triple points are very high quality long wearing carbides but not without shims installed.

I run the Bergstrom 8" Good and Ugly carbides as I can re sharpen them with the BiteHarder tool. I would never run without both the shims and the ski savers. I replaced my ski savers this year as two years wore right through them. A lot cheaper to replace those than new skis every other tear on low snow conditions. Plus the ski savers give some good bite in the corners as an added benefit!

Make the call. Go with the Bergstrom Triple Points. Nice to have a human answer the phone. My 8" Triples for my XF7000 should be here Friday. Don't wait. They're going to get really busy pretty soon.
