We are finally doing a summer UP trip with the RV the 1st week in August. We are planning on going to the following towns:

Copper Harbor
Munising
Paradise
Whitefish Point
Sault St Marie
Macinac

Do you know of any must visit places/beaches?

Thanks Bill D

Misery Bay

If you would like a cool place to check out go to Misery bay and hang out and swim ...Also Agate Beach is cool. these places are located in between Twin Lakes and Houghton

The Agawa Canyon train tour in Saulte Ste. Marie is very nice, if you don't mind a full day on the train. I believe it is about 110 miles one way, then you turn around and go back. Very beautiful ride though.

Presque Isle Park in Marquette...sunset is best. The Vierling is a great place to eat while in town.

Hike up Sugar Loaf Mountain just north of Marquette...views from the top are very nice.

The Pictured Rocks Boat Tour in Munising is another good one.

I'm sure you've got the Tahquamenon Falls on your list (at least the Upper Falls).

Oswald Bear Ranch north of Newberry is another good place to stop.

Sounds like alot of driving in one week... why don't you just pick one or two areas to spend a week or a few days and really see what there is to see? You'll miss alot driving from Copper to Munising and then from Munising to Paradise/Whitefish Pt..

Another great place is between Paradise and Grand Marais, next to Rainbow Lodge, on Lake Superior and the mouth of the Two Hearted River. There is a some dunes and real cool rope suspension foot bridge that goes over the river and onto the beach.

Thanks for the ideas, we have adjusted our trip and are planning on just doing the Eastern UP. 8 days just isn't enough time to see it all. We are planning on taking the train, seeing the Falls, touring the Valley Camp, Macinac Island, Whitefish Bay Museum. We also need a day for doing nothing in there.. Any ideas for campgrounds central to the area?

Thanks Bill D

It's not very central but the Anne Osborn park down river from the Locks is right on the river and great for checking out the freighters....
