My dad is going to sell his 1998 XLT Classic. Electric start, reverse, Xtra 12 suspension, approx 2000 miles. KBB on it is $1195. Do you feel thats about right? Too high, too low???

Thanks!

In my experience KBB has always seemed to be a little generous on value (they list my 13 RMK 800 Assault 155 at a little over $7900 - way more than I would ever hope to get).

This being said, I think the the book value on his XLT might be a little light for the condition of the sled, miles and options. I'm always looking at ads for mid-late 90's triples and it seems like they are typically running at least $1500 for a nice one.

Thinking about selling the RMK and eventually picking up an Ultra or an XLT just to use as a classic rider - like the sound of those triples. Maybe we could work a trade? (Not even-up tho :))

I just picked up a XLT Limited this fall for $1000. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles though. Only has 3000 miles and pretty good condition.

If in cherry condition start at $1500 if beat up adjust way down. Nothing wrong with a 1998 XLT classic with xtra 12 for its' day good trail sled.... sleds didn't improve much until Doo SC10-2 what 2002 or so then the Rev changed everything in 2003. Polaris didn't do much in that time frame but did partner with FAST for M10.

Only time I use KBB or others is to get a ballpark figure on cars and trucks only then cut that estimate in half and start negrociating from there with CASH in hand.
No one is looking for that era sled until the snow falls in your imediate area. At that point I think you have a pretty good chance at getting over $1000.00 if it shows like the low miles would indicate.
