Very light traffic in up

We just returned from a Day Trip that started in Watersmeet to Amasa, Republic, Nestoria, Sidnaw and ended in Watersmeet. Total Miles around 215. We only met 20 Sleds top all day and the trails were excellent, around 60-70 Miles were only Groomer Tracks.

I have never seen such light Traffic in a Holiday Week. We only had 5 Sleds in our Group. Some of the People that come up with us will not go up this year for our Day Trips because of the increased cost of the Sticker. I think its BS that they feel that the cost is to high, but thats whats stuck in their Head. Traffic seamed to be heavy in Northern Wisconsin with most Trails turned into Snirt.

It looks like the best Riding is in the UP this Winter. The Trails were great and very low Traffic near the Wisconsin Border makes it a good choice for a Ride.

I think the over all cost of "life" and loss of jobs is going to have a very big affect on riding this year. Stickers are what they are. Nothing about snowmobiling is cheap by any means. I was hoping to be up there once already with two more trips planned but my truck decided it needed the money so that shot the first trip. Now work is looking like it is going to cut back again so that will probably affect the other two I have planned. Hopefully we get enough snow on the south side of the state so at least I can put some miles on. If not there is always next year....

Why the double post?

Area Conditions and Info was clearly the appropriate place for this Very light traffic in up topic! Do we need to read it twice, or more?

(There seems to be an increasing incidence of double posting in the last few days. Why so? There's quite enough new material added each day without having to wade through the same topics posted redundantly in two or more threads!)

Using the Quote feature requires having to skim past the same post multiple times in ONE thread !

Of course it would help greatly if the quoted text were edited to show only the essence of what one is addressing therein, rather than leaving a lot of extraneous matter in a lengthy quote intact! (Just be careful to leave both the leading and trailing QUOTE delimiters ('['QUOTE=chords;102133] and '['/QUOTE] in place!) {smile}

Snow in MN.

The updated Dec28 DNR snowmap for MN shows more ridable snow than it has in years for any time of the season. There are many miles of groomed trails that don't get groomed at all some years. It looks like this year will be an exception. Many folks will just be able to ride out their back door for a change rather than trailer all the way to Mich or Wisc. Regardless of snow conditions here our bunch will be heading over to Wisc. in Feb. Call it tradition. Or maybe no daytime speed limit. Or else the good people where we stay in Wisc.

Can you clarify which trails you rode? Specifically, did you ride trail #18 from Amasa to Republic and if so, how was the trail?

i live six hours away from our cabin but with northern indiana getting a good amount of snow have not really traveled to much but heading to trout lake on the 8. as i said we trailered out to south bend last night and easly a foot there. i feel bad for not supporting our town up there but with good snow here why travel.
