Still hanging in there here in Vilas, MW area is groomed and great looking, It's Thursday 3/19, going to be 45 today, partly cloudy. Warm, 40's through Saturday, snow, 1-3" Saturday night into Sunday.

Rode Boulder to Mercer and back Wed. Plenty of snow. Riding Boulder to LOL to Bents. So far, awesome! Bents is open through Sat this week. Bar and pizza only. Some of the best trails I been on this season. Ride while you can!

Took probably my last ride today, it was sunny and 40’s, put on a quick 50 miles, MW to BJ to Arbor Vitae, back to MW. Trails were awesome except just outside of MW on the NE side, some water holes and no grooming in this section. All other trails were groomed and nice. As you can see, plenty of snow still left but by the time I got back the roads were starting to burn through.

Glad you got out for a last ride Paul. Trails look excellent. That's the kind of last ride you remember through the summer and brings you back for more next season.

Thanks Hermie, It was so nice out, not sure how many days left. If you drop and go into the woods you could probably ride for another week or two.

We rode from Boulder on trail 12 to 6 and went a little ways west toward Presque Isle early this morning and turned around and went back. We only had an hour before we checked out. Trails were nice but fading fast. Any roads were melted off. I think all things considered, they will be done today or tomorrow. Just too warm. I felt blessed to get this "extra" weekend. Overall, had a good season. I was right around 1k miles which is good for me.

It's really melting fast, Yesterday was 54 and full sun and we probably lost a good 10" of snow depth. Calling for temps near 60 and sunny today so more melting will be going on. Not a bad season here in the northwoods. Living here year round and I only speak for myself, I'm ready for Spring and outside projects. Now we will start to see all the trees and branches that came down and were buried under the 23" storm that hit us at Thanksgiving.

It's too bad the warm temps didn't hold off until after the weekend. Trails were in really good shape. I think they might have a decent amount of people riding spending some money. I know the Northwoods rest hotel in St.Germain had a decent amount of sledders Friday night was empty on Saturday night. Trails went fast in the open areas. You could still ride in the woods but you would have a heck of a time getting around anything exposed to the sun.

We stopped at Bents Thursday and they looked closed. Then a guy ran out and told us they were open otherwise we would have left. They were actually closed for the season but decided to open for a few days because of the snow. Probably 15 sleds there before we left. We rode for about 20 miles Friday morning, just really soft. If it had only gotten cold, it would have been saved. Either way, had a great time. My sled is already in pieces, getting things done for next season.

Looks like most of Vilas has called it quits but the far northern part is holding on for some reason. From what I saw yesterday they should all call it a season. They had good year but it's time to shut it down.

Yep, it's time but there is still a lot of snow back in the woods. I'm done for sure.

I always thought this time of year would be good if you had a beater sled, something air cooled maybe. Just something to get out there for a quick ride. Maybe someday.
