Vintage ride

I'd like to post this here and in vintage section for better exposure. I'm planning a vintage ride for next Feb. We are gonna do a Tuesday and Wednesday backpack ride. Low traffic, good base and grooming should be had for mid Feb. The ride will start from Greenland and head into the Keweenaw. I'm not sure of the destination yet but we can figure that later. Obviously on these old relics, knowing your machine is a must. Regardless of how many plan to go, this ride is happening. So far myself and one other individual on a 87 Jag are in. I believe my buddy Old Man Dave will ride a newer machine to pick up the pieces and assist.

Anyone interested? Open to suggestions!

Hey Lenny, the term "Vintage Ride" always catches my attention. I like the Tuesday/Wednesday idea. From my own selfish point of view, I like the time frame around the Copper Harbor Run for Fun event, which is traditionally Thurs. - Sat. President's Day weekend. Either the Tues/Wed before or after would be great as I could hit both rides and only have to make one 10 hr. drive.

I like rides that challenge these old sleds (and their rider) and this definitely sounds like a challenge. If I know you guys, you will run pretty hard so if I could make it, I better have the sled ready to roll.

Are you thinking all trail or a few logging road segments if it would work out?

Define vintage, I'll maybe keep my eye out for something and come UP, or if you get enough guys maybe you'll need another clean up sled

The old school of thought was, it ain't vintage without leaf springs. However, I think the current consensus is 25 years or older to qualify as "vintage". In reality, anything that blows your back out after 10 miles should work just fine!:tongue-new:

The 80s and 90s is retro = yesterday.
Older then that (70s back) is vintage = old fashioned.
I'm an antique = older then dirt.

I like the idea of anything with leaf springs but to be so rigid and exclude 25 year old sleds without leafs isn't necessary.

Lenny, we still have not got to meet each other in person. However I still have the 1984 Polaris Indy 400 that I purchased new. I am really going to try for your Feb vintage ride with it. It should be great!!! Indys are okay???
