Vintage sled registration in MN

I just picked up a vintage sled-77 AC Panther 5000. I was looking over the registration stuff and was wondering if there's any such thing as vintage sled registration. Not trying to be too cheap, but I probably won't get $70 worth of use on it, (just had to renew the other 2 sleds this fall) will probably just take it to Waconia, hopefully do the WOBLE run with it, and it looks like some kind of temporary show registration is avail for that, but if I wanted to take my niece/nephew on a short trail ride, or a short trail cruise myself, it needs to be legit.

Its a really clean sled with 3100 miles, bought from the original owner! No tears in the seat, good windshield and hood, and starts cold on one pull too-kind of a cool find! If only it were a cooler model like an El Tigre... 20130112_160252.jpg 20130112_160313.jpg

Nice Sled - Has the retro look before it was retro.

There is a vintage license option in MN but it's pretty restrictive. Parades, vintage rides, etc. Don't think it's legal for regular trail riding. I just bucked up and bought the regular trail permit for mine so I can ride it anywhere.

Nice find. The next vintage sled I want to get is a late '70s Cheetah or Panther. I also just purchased a regular registration for my '78 sled in Wisconsin. Do you think we can talk John into adding a vintage sled section?:)

Yes there is a vintage license available. It has restrictions, but it would be impossible to monitor your activity. It is under $20.00 and is good for the life of the sled. You still will need a trail permit if you want to ride it on any Grant and Aid trails in MN

You guys need to read further into the MN snowmobile site. You can get a permit for free and no trail pass needed. Its for organized activities and up to 10 ride per year that are just your choice to go out riding. One permit can cover a bunch of 25 year old sleds. They do not need to be registered either.

I believe its under permit for vintage sleds.

Out of state sleds are also permitted for free. I keep mine in my trunk.
