Was this supposed to be an El Nino year?

Amazing. Usually you hear those words and cry. This year in the Twin Cities, and at the cabin in Turtle Lake, Wisconny, the snow is awesome. The snowbanks on the side of the streets remind me of the 1970's...sorry, I'm starting to tear up, but crying in a good way!!!

I thought the same thing the other day. I hope I don't jinx it but N.E. Iowa has had good snowfall for several years running. The only problem is the nasty Jan. thaw. Anyway, I can't believe how much we've riden this year!! We're leaving, by snowmobile tomorrow a.m. and riding to our cabin on the Mississippi River. It's about a 2 hour drive in a car and it takes us about 4 and half hours by sled. This will be the 3rd time we've done this trip this year and we're able to take different trails everytime! Man I love riding in N.E. Iowa and South East Minnesota. Cheers to another good weekend of riding! Be safe!

Ya well I heard em and here in Alpena Mighigan and we got nothing. Maybe an inch and our average is 75"per year. I think our total is 11".

I moved from midwest to northern Idaho and el nino is surely present here. No snow below 3500'. In fact Dallas Texas has had more snow then us.

How 'bout sending some of that snow to
Marinette County? Yikes.
If it wasn't for the 15 inches in early December,....
we would NOT have had a winter.(
That rain in January and the sun lately,....(
Enjoy it if ya got it!

Lovin it in western WI, folks gotta cabing and went for a ride on Saturday with dad. 150 miles about 2 miles of bumps. I'll take an inch or two every week as long as it stays below 30*, trails are the best they've been in years. Turtle lake, rice lake, cumberland and back to balsam lake. Couldn't have asked for a better ride.

Stopped in Rice lake and got to see some cool ice races, 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, and cars (different classes or course). Was thinking it would have been cool to race them together but handicap the wheelers and bikes! (3 laps vs the 1 lap for the cars?) even had a nice 86 ford escort painted like the general lee!

535 miles from Saturday to Tuesday (with no riding on Sunday...fishing and Daytona) all miles were in N.E. Iowa and S.E. Minnesota. That 3-5 fresh Sunday night was an awesome addition. Great Great Great year!!

Here in ND we have the most snow on the ground that we have had since the winter of 96-97. I have not trailered my sled once yet and some of the cross country riding is great. In other El Nino years we have had almost no snow in the winter but some good storms in March and April so we may have lots of riding left.

I'm looking at my grass and temp of 41F. Only had my kids on the sled 2 times this year, 1 trip to the north and we couldn't even ride on the last day. Been one of the worst here in a long time.

Right about now I can just hear El Nino singing the song "How Do You Like Me Now!?" by Toby Keith!

It could have been worse, there were some decent days in the Yoop this year, but nothing like the last 3 years have been. I am pretty bummed that my riding in March has been wiped away....... I still have the hope of something like that huge snow storm which hit like 4 years ago around Easter time. I remember that year had a horriable March with Big Melts, then came this monster storm just in time!

Both my sleds have full tanks of gas and have been greased up and waxed and are facing the garage door in hopes of one last bleezard. John just has to make sure it hits on a Friday morning.
