If by "vfd", you mean "variable frequency drive", it's not worth fixing! But, I had a bad belt tensioner on mine and a $6 part fixed it. Give it a look and check any "keyed" pulleys for shear.

For all those that don't know it...the front loaders hold a ton of water after the cycle is done...and you need to throw some bleach in there once in awhile to disinfect the unit. If you don't...they will stink, and it is not healthy for you to wear clothing that ...well, stinks.
Nothing else disinfects like bleach....use it and smell better, feel better and stop throwing 45 pounds in that thing at once...never mind what it SAYS it will handle. Lighter loads means a longer life usually.

It also helps if you leave the door open from time to time so they can dry out
