Waupaca Chain O Lakes

This chain of lakes is not on the map so I did a little internet research sounds like a 22 chain of small spring fed lakes and outlet is the Crystal River. Is this chain highly regulated by water leos for boat speed and lake use or a let's have fun area? How many miles of water can a Ranger boat explore?... is fishing and water skiing any good? Multiuse lakes or no wake lakes here and there? Thanks for the help anyone can offer.

Lots of enforcement, small lakes that all connect probably more conducive for pontoons, canoes, and smaller fishing boats. Clear pristine water, expensive real estate, plenty of places to stop for meals and beverage. Close access to Highway 10.

Not aware of any public boat landings for access either, they don't really want outsiders.

There are public landings but not many because the lakes are small, rentals are popular from places like Clear Water Harbor and Dings Dock. Lots of people from the Land of Lincoln on vacation. Kinda reminds me of the movie "The Great Outdoors" with John Candy except for the Bald Headed Bear of Waupaca County, they just made that part up....

Very nice area, lots of no wake. There are large party boats that can be rented as well, if people wanted to do wedding parties and the like.

Always was a nice day off work when my company was small enough to take everyone out for a day.

And yes, lots of patrol on and off the water in that area.

Holy moly checked out Zillow and $600K+ for a small cabin to well in millions for a real house! My Ranger would do ok there and found a website with all the public launches. The worry is knowing no wake areas before you enter figured there would be lots of leos to bust newbies and I don't want to be one. I hate the shake down from light check to PFD sizing. lol. I have a flawless boat but some of these water leos have attitudes if you screw up. Clear spring fed lake water is rare in that neck of the woods must be the main attraction.

Stay away form Waupaca COL on the weekend. Total chaos. Did it once almost 10 years ago. Will NEVER do it again. You have been warned.

Used to go there 20-30 years ago as my aunt owns two cabins by the "dock" but even then weekends where starting to get crazy and my family was into fishing which was impossible on the weekends. I have been back time to time and the cabins all around have been disappearing and being replaced with mansions. You could power boat if you are ok with some tight circles in a few lakes but there is quite a bit of no wake areas and lakes that are all no wake, although definitely awesome area for booze cruising on a toon. Spent our honeymoon there (marriage was almost annulled after Crystal River trip by ourselves :) ) and had many good times but if I was to visit more I would go during off-times.

Pete,

I put in the Wolf at New London & run down to the "pool lakes" (Poygan/Winneconne/Butte Des Morts and beyond). Been there twice this season & going again on the Friday the 11th thru Sunday the 13th. Will run south to Butte Des Morts then upstream on the Fox thru Omro/Eureka & Eureka lock to Berlin.

Oh yeah test drove a Ranger without PS what a bear to steer when at speed. Took the larger boat with PS and went 2s etec and like it a lot. I was on the water on the Fox River & Tichigan lake down by you. Not crowded at all and different for sure compared to Vilas lakes. I'm always checking WI out for trails and lakes just what I do..lol
