Wausau 525

Anybody go to the Wausau 525 today? I stopped with my boys for a couple hours this afternoon. I believe that this will be a major race in the future. They have done an incredible job with the new track. There was some good racing to be seen today. Even had a woman beatin up on the boys in one race.

The Wausau 525 is a race where all profits go to Flips Fund. Flips Fund is for children with critical illnesses. Flip Merwin was killed in a racing accident in January of '03. It is a race, but it is a fund-raiser for a good cause.

The final for the TLR Cup Wausau 525 Champ 440 is Sunday at 3:15 p.m.

Went with my son (6) on Saturday afternoon and we were both very impressed. I went to school with Flip and his older brother. I made sure to tell his older brother to let his dad know that he did a great job with the track, "his retirement project." I agree with you jr37, this will be a major race in the future.

My boys and I went to the Wausau 525 again yesterday. It is impressive the amount of people there, and some really good racing. It looks like they may have outgrown their building already, it was full every time we went in to warm up. I still see this as being a really big event in the future. Their goal is to raise $525,000 for "Flips Fund" by 2020. All of that money goes to kids with diseases, kids clubs, scholarships,etc.

They have Vintage races next Saturday. I've been to those and they put on some great racing also.

I went Sunday and was very pleased. I also went to Eagle River for the championship (setting in the Arctic Cat heated booth) and left disappointed as I have been for several years. The Wausau 525 is far superior and half the price. It far exceeds Eagle River. Reason-----more racing, better racing and you can hear the announcing of races, drivers, etc. The viewing is exceptional. I rest my case !!!!!

Sorry I missed you Sunday, Jerry. I've heard that Eagle River was getting pretty expensive. I sure am impressed with the job that Ralph and his crew have done with the 525 facilities.

Ya jr, I was the guy with the big mouth. I love the 525. I got all three holiday weekends at the Big Eau plaine on the west side this summer. Site # 25-18-18. Stop and have a beer !!!
