But it has to be fixed. There are many changes that could be maid if the 535 idiots in Congress would stop pandering to the insurance companies and begin to solve the problem.

Amen to that one!

There are two primary issues that stand out among all the other seemingly endless problems with health care.

First, the hierarchy doesn't want us to fix it. They talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

The second is that we need to give everyone the RIGHT to have it, IF THEY PAY for it. Whether you work for someone or company that pays it for you or you are self employed, you should be guaranteed coverage after paying for say 12 months. Pre-existing conditions should NOT be part of the criteria that is used to determine IF...the insurance company will cover you or not.

Case in point. 95% of the population hardly uses their insurance other than routine things like doctor visits and getting your appendix out...but what happens if you get sick....You get the big "C"....you can't keep your job, you loose your job, you loose your insurance...nobody wants to insure you now...we have NO answer for this except bankruptcy.

Why, because insurance companies don't want to cover a sure loss.

That needs to be fixed.

Also this insurance thing could go a long way if they let everyone in the country decide to chose what coverage they want and from whomever they want to be covered by, regardless of where you work or who you work for.

If you're self employed, you get screwed royal....they should let you write off 100% of the cost for health care before taxes. None of this criteria that says it must exceed 3% of your gross income...crap. Back in the day that might have been okay, but it is far and away out of line today.

What about kids who go to college. Or people on unemployment?? we have nothing for them right now....so they go uninsured....but they can walk into a hospital and must be treated by the hospital and guess who is paying for that cost right now??? Making everyone pay into the system to have some basic coverage, whether government coverage or private is where this is all at.

Frankly, the big insurance companies don't want change. They are free to charge whatever they want, and exclude whoever they want, and leave it to you to sue to get coverage...if you can live long enough to win and get the coverage.

I am not partial to the government taking over any of my coverage, but Medicare already is an example of the government program, and from what I can tell it doesn't work too badly...maybe not the greatest, but better than nothing.

Insurance companies are fighting this one tooth and nail...and who can blame them...they have a free hand right now to do whatever they want and make their profit as they see fit.

How many insurance companies have you heard about that have gone out of business thru this last few years??? Even AIG got bailed out by guess who??

We need to open our eyes and think of what would happen if YOU or one of YOUR family members were the ones that got very sick, lost their job, their home and savings....because as long as we act like sheep, so long as the wolf gets somebody else...we are okay with it; It is dumb and very much rolling the dice.
