www.waze.com (it is free)
I started using waze a couple of weeks ago. I have to say it is my new favorite app on my Android phone.
They have installs for Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia.
Every time I drive any where I have it running. IT is a GPS that uses input from all of the users. (Real Time Data)
It will let you know where COPS are shooting radar, road hazards, your rate of speed to report traffic slow downs, read light cameras, speed cameras, and more.
You also report these things. Your point and reputation over time make you known as a good honest source for reports.
Every time I pass a COP shooting radar, I post it. You see waze members behind you in traffic and they send thansk or can post comments saying he is not there any more. Or he has some one pulled over. Pretty cool!
You can link it to your twitter, facebook accounts too. I have not tried any of this because I do not use facebook or twitter.
If you decide to use it, it asks you for an id of who referred you. "Snocrazy"
THere are privacy concerns with this. But with out this app, just having a cell phone is a tracking device. This to me is a way to use that info to your benefit.
Turn the software off if you dont want to share location etc. Facebook and Twitter probably introduceothere privacy concerns... be careful.
I figure this would be a good fit for the road warrior snowmobilers who drive back and forth to the U.P.
Try it out and let me know what you think.
