Western Riding Areas Threatened for Closing: we won it ain't happening!!!

If you missed this from the meeting wednesday night.

Just pulled this up from the meeting http://county10.com/2013/02/14/motor...ubois-hearing/
Can't believe they could shut us out of that area.
But it's with are voice that keeps it open, it's great that the clubs, business,
and people of the area expressed the sports needs.
And for everybody that sent in letters, this is the only way to keep are
area for the sport open.

Thank You to all who made it!!!

Think Deep Snow!!!

Great News. The link posted above appears to be broken. It only brings up a notice saying "Sorry, Page not found"

If you get a list of topics for that page, currently item number 9 is the story of interest.

This is great news! Sound like the Forest Service also looked closely at the letter sent and distinguished between the "form" letter sent in and those letters that were from persons that went beyond the standard form and included personal experiences with the region. I made sure to add a personal touch to my letter and am glad I did and commend the Forest Service for the way they handled things. It also sounds like the overwhelming majority of persons attending the meeting were also for keeping the area motorized.

But I bet those wanting to turn it into non-motorized will continue to fight.

PS> Not sure if it will work, but you can try this link.

John, there were around 300 sledders at the meeting and 3 or 4 skier types. The forrest service got a message. As for what I heard, the area will remain the same for now............There is this one guy in Dubois that just won't go away. Of course they will try again. And I will continue to give them a wide right of way. Be polite and not motor reving when I'm near them and continue to wonder when the same comes my m way...

Thanks Carter. I had heard the same story (one guy trying to close it down to motorized recreation) last year when we were out. Kudos to all that showed up at the meeting in support of keeping it open to motorized recreation. Nice to hear numbers going in our favor for a change!

I actually just sent off an e mail to the supervisor for the Shoshone National Forest, thanking them for taking the time to carefully examine all the letters they got and to recognize some were just form letters sent by folks with a particular agenda that have never been there and will most likely never be there and others that were more personal and spoke of their experiences in that spot.

2 weeks. Two Oceans and other awesome riding spots...here we come!
