What Communicators are the Best for Riding?

Im not sure if Collette is in biz anymore or not. I have owned a couple of pairs of Collettes and was generally happy. Probably would not go with them now due to instability. Would like Bluetooth capabilies to listen to Ipod. Not sure about Chatterbox or Scala Rider but I think those are the 2 other brands that come to mind. Anyone with info, sure would appreciate some help.

I've got Collettes also and while I haven't tried the other brands I will say I've been happy with the Collettess and would look at them again. My son plugs his I-pod into his and it works great. We've even found his battery life is hardly any different than mine and I don't use the I-pod. On ours, there is a seperate jack for the I-pod or whatever else you want to plug in so not sure if you need bluetooth as long as you can plug in.

Collett is back up and running. We use the Sno Fone, which is a stripped down version, but other models do have Bluetooth capability and the ability to connect iPods and other devices.

Just throw up the visor & talk. lol I suppose for large groups leader & sweeper should be able to talk on the fly other than that not for me.:)

Middle finger works well also. Problem with those "toys" is dealing with batteries and if someone starts humming or singing you are SOL until they stop.

I was thinking of trying the new two way Motorola Talkabout radios and using a headset with the iVOX. Has anyone tried these and used the ivox communicator? I want to use them when I go out west to stay in contact with my co-riders when we boondock. I was thinking if I even just had the earbud I would at least be able to hear them and stop to reply. We would only use them if stuck or we lost each other. I heard it is snowing in Minnesota.

Good question & not sure how well communicator would work if blocked by hills & ridges. Spot maybe better for that if you have real trouble.

In our group of 10-12 guys that ride out west, 7 or 8 of us had Colletts. I think we are down to 3 that have them now because there is 1 guy who is never quiet on it. Either talking or humming. That and the pita of getting everyone to adjust the vox correctly so everyone else doesn't have to listen to engine noise. I wont use them anymore.
