So i have been debating getting an 800 E-tec but i'm trying to do the math as to what my sled would be worth. The problem is it's a very custom sled and i know that can make it hard to judge value. Sooo. Here it is.....2009 summit x 800r 146"....1800 miles and as you can see it's a one of a kind. (not sure if that's good or bad)

Hard to say... what the market will bear ! But at this point in the season it will becomming a buyers market. I sold my 1 of a kind 09 800R MXZ with all kind of mods for 6500 back in DEC. It had a good 14K in it with the extended 4 yr warranty & still had 150 psi cold. 5400 miles, rode by my grandma ect... A budd just bought a 2010 800R Ptek, 1800 miles, X package for 6600 at the Bronson auction. There are just some comps for you. I left my motor & clutches alone, all my mods were for handling, support, appearance. I had some guys asking me what your lowest price was ??? I told them that was it 65, the sled was gone in a week. I did deduct some cash to have the OEM stickers replaced, their choice. Just wanted to be fair about it. You have to find the right guy to buy a 1 of a kind.

your sled looks sharp, good luck.

$7500 imo it's a custom sled but still has that "clean" type look (not something a kid threw together) ;)

Unfortunately the more you customize something the less value it has. The money spent customizing is wasted unless you find someone who shares your taste. This narrows the market considerabley, so to make it attracktive again you have to lower the asking price. Usually less then an uncustomized item. You would probably have to ask a thousand dollars less then stock. So, good luck in your quest to sell.

What is custom?

The real question is what have you done to customize it? I see that you changed everything to red, added 10" riser, jerry can?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I'd say that is a pretty stock sled with an unusual color scheme. As is, I'd say around $7,000.

Unless there is some clutching work or engine mods that aren't shown in the picture... I'd say rule of thumb is real value adding mods (engine, clutch, suspension) give back somewhere between 40-50% of what it costs you to do, cosmetic stuff 0%...

I have exactly the same sled '09 146" X with 1500 miles on it. Here is what I added:
Boss Seat
Slydog Powderhound Skis
carbon fiber bars with controls relocate
VMI rear rack
Revalved suspension - front and rear
Snow Eliminator running boards
Skidoo Belly Pan

Talking to more than a few guys over the weekend, and as is, $7,000 is pretty much the concensus on my sled... It is a sweet looking sled though!

thanks a bunch for the help!!! I know having a custom can make it kinda hard to predict a resale value. I guess i just have to wait and see if any of the manufactures make anything worth selling it to upgade

IMO I would buy that sled for at least what a stock sled is worth. Why wouldn't anyone? If they don't like the color, buy a stock one. The sled is cool. I don't think the mods should make it worth more than the KBbook though.

I highly doubt serious buyers would or could say negative things about the customization not being stock to decrease the value.
