Squeaks is open again..I went past this summer and was surprised it was, can't remember the name the bar is called now

Squeaks is not open. Yes, I understand it was purchased by TC from Bear Trap. They have given it a new façade, but it seems like they are making it a personal residence. I've heard of no plans to open anytime soon. We have a family house up there less than a mile away, so I'm always asking.

Have been going to Hurley since I was in high school in the late 80's. We were based in Hurley from 1989-2003 & Pence from 2003-present, so I've been fortunate to learn those trails like the back of my hand. I remember well when the Iron Horse was a straight shot to Frontier bar in Cedar from Hurley. We used to pad our mile total with a quick run & back :fat:. It was about a 28 mile run from our house & we could do it in 30 minutes on wedge Indy 500's. What I've heard is similar to stated above, property changed hands and new owner didn't grant access.

if I am correct squeaks was in pence Wisconsin right? sign had the mouse lounging in the martini glass? and wasn't the trail just past that windy through the woods with 2 scenic overlooks? is this trail and overlooks still open?

Yes, that was Squeaks. That is right on Trail 77. If you head west past there about a mile, right after you cross over Hwy 77, there is a right turn cut off, that will take you to Trail 6, which is the windy trial where the overlooks are & yes they are still there.

Didn't the Lac Du Flambeau IR do the same thing to Trail 17 out of Woodruff? Close a short section of Trail 17 so everyone had to ride pass the casino. It has been a few years since I have been down Trail 17, because of this closure, but the last time I saw it, people still rode down the grade skipping the reroute.

On the map it appears that way, but when I rode that route in Feb, we went straight thru...did not go via town.
