I remember the spring blizzard of 2007 in the Yoop. I wasn't there but I watched it from my computer screen on Johndee.com. LOL. All the snow was gone in March then around Easter the UP got hammered with 3 feet of snow from one storm. I remember Skylar saying it was "stupid deep" as I was glued to my computer screen looking for the reports of the lucky few that ventured to the yoop.

From John's journal dated April 9th, 2007.

"There is a whole bucket load of adjectives I could use to describe the storm we just went through. Amazing, incredible, awesome, wild, unbelievable, fabulous, the list could go on and on. However, the word that keeps popping into my head is EPIC."

I wish I could have been there to experience that one.

I guess everyone seems to remember the days when we had snow from the first part of December until the end of March. I seem to remember winters like that too; but the only winter I can really say was like that in the Chicago area was the winter of '78-'79. For some reason I believe we got 8" before Thanksgiving, then a blizzard around New Year's, and the snow stayed until March, (didn't thaw and no warm ups). However, I might be blending a few different years in my memory and thinking that was how it use to be.

I'm starting to think whose types of winters are more of the exception than the norm and as I get older my memories start to blend together. Last year wasn't a bad year in Chicago until the blizzard. A few weeks after the blizzard winter was over for us.

That is why I was hoping this year would be like my memories, snow comes in December, stays until March without a thaw. This year reminds me of 2001-2002, but at least this year I don't have two brand new sleds in the gargage not being used.
