What insurance provider do you use for snowmobiling?

I need to insure my snowmobile for the year and only ride it for about a week the whole season. What is a good cheap insurance that I can use? I wouldn't need total coverage or anything, just liability.

As of yesterday, I now use Nationwide for my sleds. Had Foremost through Farmers, but their rates kept climbing. New rate is half of Foremost.

i have fremont ins for homeowners and i called them this morning and this is what they said

It was my pleasure to speak with you this morning regarding your 2003
Artic Cat F7 snowmobile. I double-checked with the home office and
confirmed they no longer charge premium for providing liability coverage
for snowmobiles - this coverage is included at no charge. The liability
coverage protects you in the event you are responsible for injuries or
property damage resulting from an accident.

There is still a premium for physical damage coverage. If you decide
you want the Artic Cat covered for damage I would need to confirm the cc
size, serial number and value.

I use American family. Cant you just insure the sled the week you go than cancel policy. My agent told me I could if wanted to, know buddies that do it.

Was paying $235 and $225 / yr ($460) with a company in the "country" for full coverage on a 02' 600 edge and a 03' 600 classic, switched to a Metlife guy out of McHenry Il , got better coverage for $55 ea sled /yr and $ 20 for the 2 place trailer, year round coverage with Id cards.

If you are prior military or a father or mother that is/was...check with USAA. When I get calls from someone wanting to give me a quote, I tell them I have USAA and thats about as far as the conversation goes. Can't beat thier rates...

What kind of limits on these low rates that are posted on here?

I'm going to check with the ins. guy mtb1115 mentions, others have commented elsewhere of good rates from him.

I switched a week ago to Nationwide (Jim Kelley who is a supporter of this site) and have 2 sleds, one with full coverage and a $500 deductible, the other liability only but also have my new 7x23 NEO trailer with full coverage and it was about $230 for a year.

I have mine under our homeowners policy just cause that's the cheapest for me but my agent did tell me its not a real good idea cause if you have to make a claim it affects your homeowners insurance and with ten years of owning a home and 0 claims id like to keep it that way but way cheaper that route

Allstate. Last year a tree jumped out and ruined the front end on my 2006 Venture. The repairs exceeded the value so they totaled the sled, paid me full retail and reimbursed the sales tax equivalent when I replaced it. A very good claim experience.

State Farm. Can't quote premium but recently had sled totalled due to damage I wasn't aware of from last season. They gave me $700 less than I paid for sled 5 years ago. 4 stroke Yamis
are not cheap to replace. They have my loyalty regardless if the premium isn't the cheapest out there.

Thanks for all the replies! I ended up going with Nationwide and it was only $11.50 a month for liability. I only went with that option because I can cancel after winter ends and sign back up later on in the year when winter hits.
