Recently I had a buddy wreck my sled. He asked to use it and I said it is on a break it you buy it policy. Unfortunately he cut off two of my buddies an all three sleds collided. After finding out that every one was okay no injuries, loaded up sleds and what not, I explained to him that he had to pay for the damages. He said he would give me $1400 for the sled. (kid was being a piece of **** mind you and thought I was going to claim insurance and pay the deductible and never offered to pay anything or say he was sorry) I just want your thoughts on a fair price for the sled. It is a 2003 Polaris Pro X 700. Your normal wear on the sled for that year. 3300 miles on the sled. The only issue was that I melted the side panel from were my exhaust can wasn't properly reinstalled after having some work done to the sled??? Other than that the sled is in awesome running condition. Thank you for the help.

Nada Value $2405 but I see sleds going for way more than that. Just want to be fair but not loose my ***.

That sucks when a "buddy" won't live up to his end of the deal. I think a better question would be what can I replace it with? Used sled market has really gone up lately. Not many good used sleds available and with the cost of new sleds the good used stuff holds if value real well.

Good luck and next time he asks to borrow something tell him to pound sand!

Thanks man. I have an 09 etec with 7000 miles on it so I figured I would just use the cash plus the 09 for a leftover 600 mxz x etec.

Tuff spot for both of you on 12 year old sled with somewhat low miles you have to remember prices will drop real soon with melting snow. What about the other sleds who is picking up repairs on those sounds like a MESS!!

Get what you can and be done with him. A lawyer will cost you more than you'll ever receive.

Get your money now before the other guys go after him and he doesn't have anything to give you. Find out what trade in value is and hopefully it's close to what he's offering. Insurance would only give trade in value.

It's not fair, but things like this rarely are.

really this time of yr u would be lucky to get 2k for a mint pro x
but
i think 1400 is a tad low. get him to come over with the 1400 bucks take the cash . then tell him thank u for the deposit now when u pay me the other 500 bucks u can pick up the sled.

That won't give closure. Cleaner the settlement the better. I suspect the guy is/was a friend. He may feel he is making a fair offer. Take it. Then explain briefly that the value to you is much higher and you will keep the sled to make up the difference. He will be relieved and say sure if he values your friendship. Been there.

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.

It basically comes down to the friendship over money. I would have been very understanding with any ideas that he came up with or presented to me. I own a small company that I would have let him make at least some payments and work off the rest. But the totally disrespect he showed me after I had to bring up my game plan the next day after the trip just ruined it. An apology goes a long way. I guess I have no room for ignorance when it comes to something like that. No one should ever have to hear there buddy say good luck getting your f****** money out of me and I would have never taken your sled if I knew I wrecked it and you would not have filed and insurance claim. Reminder that he came to me and asked if he fixed the powervalve issue he could take the sled. (He didnt want to take grandma and grandpa 2 up) I think I will just tell him to pay me what you think the sled is worth, keep the sled.
