Well, if you're interested, I may have one for you. It's a Garmin, Oregon 200 with Red Pine mapping in it, and a RAM handlebar mount. I had it mounted right on the bars on the left side, worked great. It will do everything that a larger car version will do, but it's weatherproof. I believe the maps are for WI, MN, MI, IL. I used it for a couiple yrs, then we sold our sled. I don't have any plans to get another sled either. Google it and let me know if you're interested.

$200 firm for everything. It's a good unit, I just don't use it anymore without a sled. I took it along grooming once this past year just to see how much the trails had been moved from the previous year, but that's about it.

Nuvi 500 too. Does everything I want and it's nice to have the big display right in front of you. Let's ya know when the big hairpin is commin up! Plus it's fun to know your actual speed and I always enjoy seeing the changes in elevation.

I have a Garmin Zumo. Always know where we are at and where the groomed trails are so we don't burn across the groomed trail without yielding.
I got my programming through MSA. I likey.

I have a Garmin 60 csx and it's mounted to my dash with a RAM mount. The 60 csx is way out of date now, but will probably never stop working. It picks up a signal great and works well on the snowmobile. I didn't hardwire it in, but instead just use lithium batteries and keep the backlight on high all the time (to keep it from freezing). It was very helpful in Wyoming to keep track of where you are. For trail riding, it would be nice to have a bigger screen. I may try to find a Nuvi 500 or 550 (both waterproof) on Ebay for this reason.

Although my cell phone's GPS offers much more options and has a better screen, I still use the 60 csx on long trips in the car for directions and to keep track of distances and averages, etc.

I have a Garmin 276C on a marine mount with Red Pine Mapping. Works great with a big color screen. Be sure to take it with you when you take in a pit stop.

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 2555 (I think) with the 5 inch color screen. I use it in my truck and I have the snowmobile chip in it. The issue was that this is not a waterproof outdoor unit, so I found a waterproof case on ebay that I attached to the windshield bag with heavy duty velcro. Works good, I plug it into the 12v outlet.
I use sledgps maps, they're ok, i guess, but still some misplaced trails.

I bought it a few years ago so I don't remember the details, but I bought one cradle and one arm, and then three different bases - I have one suction cup for the windshield, one handlebar one for my mountain bike, and a flat base that I screwed to the dash of my snowmobile (had to put a piece of aluminum on the underside of the dash to reinforce it). If you have a sled with an exposed riser, you can mount a base directly to that, which I think would be the best way to go. If I get a different GPS, I would just have to buy a different cradle, since the other pieces are interchangeable.
