Kicking around trading in my 06 600 fusion ho and getting a new 600. Problem is people tell me the rush's were having problems last year (electrical) would start one time then not the next. Just wondering if they got this worked out. Also some are telling me to get a iq shift cause they are like the ol edge. Proven and die hards! I really like the Rush 600 LX but don't want a oddball sled that is only a 2 year trial for polaris. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I would wait a week and see what comes out of the crates!
I had an '06 600 Switchback that I loved and traded to my son and went out and found a Switchback Assault. Although its an 800, I would wait a week and see if they come out with something similar in a 600.
Juts my .02 worth!

Was also thinking of waiting till next fall and see what they had. Just trying to look at all options and not jump into this amount of a investment(toy) to quickly. Don't want to get something now then next year say darn wish I had that one. I know, always will happen but just thinking out loud!

I just bought an "oddball sled"? 2 year trial for Poo? Where do people come up with this stuff? Do they have inside info that the rest of us don't have?

I am not bashing Polaris in the least. I really like the looks and like what I hear people say about the ride that the rush lx has. I'm one of the biggest fans of Polaris and find it terrible that it is hard to find parts for sleds that only run 1-2years. That's what I was meaning in oddball. Was just looking for insite not bashing anything or anyones choices.

I bought a new Shift 600 last year 2010. It's a great sled and I'm very happy with it. However, I already put an adjustable rear shock on it ($450) and I put studs in it ($300). I even bought another track but for personal preference.

The only thing I would like to improve besides the original .92 track is the shocks. There is no adjustment with the front skid shock and not much with the ski shocks. I would like more adjustment.

I'm like you about the Rush being new. My bro just bought an 800 and I'm just waiting to see how many problems that he has.

If you want good suspension for trail riding, I would go with a 600 rush. Although give it a week to make sure you don't want a new sled for next year. He got the 800 rush es for $9700 out the door. That was at Honda East in Toledo OH.

I had a 2010 RUSH, put just under 4,000 miles on it, have not had any of the starting problems that you allude to; in fact it was never taken back to the dealer for any problems. I got a RUSH LX this year, the only difference is the shock package, the LX doesn't have the clickers, but still has quality shocks.

I just bought a new in the crate 2010 600 Dragon Switchback. Plenty of power, fun in the Midwest-depth powder, literally twice the gas mileage of a late 90's 500 XC that I rode with last weekend. I put 6" dual carbides on it and with the stock 1 1/4" track it goes around corners like it's on rails. And the price is right on 600 IQ's compare to new e-tec's. But there may be some cool new sleds coming out on Monday.

A 600 shift is an entry level sled at an entry level price. The first ones skipped the thumb warmers. Stickers and shocks are pricey. But that 600 motor is a very good motor. Studs don't come on any sled and there is a reason for this.

If I was buying a new Polaris right now (and I'd like to), I'd buy a new Shift 600, either a 121 or 136. I'd probably swap the track out, but that wouldn't cost too much as you could recover a decent amount on it from selling the old one. I think the shocks on it are decent.

Talked to my local dealer and he said the Rush's will be around for a while. Said extension of Rush's line up for 2012. Just purchased a 2011 Rush LX 600 today!!! So thanks for all the feedback. Time to put on some late year miles!!!

Good choice! I almost bought that sled this year but am hoping for a 4 stroke in a Rush, but not holding my breath. My dealer's rep told him a Rush with longer track is one of the 3 new models. They are saying 128" but it could be 136". 128" may make more sense with that rear suspension.

I know one thing, if you plan on riding with some Skidoo's you should mount a extra Gas Tank on it so they don't run you out. In 93 Miles today,The new 600 Polaris Rush used 8 Gal to a 600 Etek's 6 Gal.

Very helpful to his question!? So let's say there is a 2 gallon per 100 mile difference. If you put on 2,000 miles a year, and many don't, that's 40 gallons of gas per year, and even at $4 a gallon, is only $160 per year. I don't know how much more the Etek is, but I'm guessing you could ride the 600 Rush for at least 10 years before you would make up the difference in up front money. I have ridden with many 600's and they have never run out of gas. Even in the UP, Etek's have to get gas when it's available.

Longtrack is talking about one of our new sleds, and we're not sure why our 600 Pro R is getting 12.5mpg to 14mpg, thought it would do a little better considering the 07' Switch 144" CFI it replaced averaged 13.5mpg to 15mpg. But I will say that the oil consumption on this new one is ridiculously low. 300mi per qt. Seems really lean at that fuel mileage but plugs are looking good and it has a 4yr bumper to bumper warr. so I guess we're not concerned about it that much.

On that note, that 600 Pro R is one sweet handling, riding, and performance machine.

rode 2011 rush pro r 800 and 2102 switchback adventure 600 today on polaris demo tour in two harbors mn.. rented a 2010 rush last year for 2 days- hated the ride. the 2011's have new suspensions and ride great. I'm 6'4", 220 lbs and like the seating position, engines, steering, solid built stong feeling of sled and now I like the ride. Try and get to a demo ride. we rode about 30 miles, and changed sleds, and the techs showed us to fine tune the ride, which is easier on the 2011's and 2012's.. Good luck!
