What was your first sled?

Mine was a 1969 Polaris mustang. It could have been used for a James Bond movie because it would smoke so bad. When we went to camp as a kid I would ride that thing from dusk til dawn. Now.....well.....who am I kidding, I still do all these years later.

1971 Arctic Cat Lynx with the 292 Kawasaki single. Electric start.

Mother's sled, I got to ride it while she was still pregnant with me when it was brand new. Also got to drive it a few years later.

Christmas Eve 1968, Dad brought home an Arctic Cat Panther. Not much for speed or reliability but it was one of the first in our neighborhood. I was too small to pull the cord on the 297 JLO so Dad had to come out to start it for me and my brother.

I've posted this picture before of my brother and I with the family dog. Looks like the dog is trying to get on too. I do recall the dog would chase us across the fields until he got winded and went home.

That was the start of my Polaris buying.
Ordering my VR1 850 will be my 24th Polaris sled.
Maybe someone should start a thread on that as well to keep the Covid Crap quiet!

72 Arctic Cat Lynx 292. Dad bought for me fall of 76. He says to me "I told your Mom, I got this for her. But you and I both know she'll probably never ride it. But don't call it yours in front of her." Put a lot of miles on that thing. We had a Citgo station up on the hill that had power mix (pre-mix) in a pump. There were several of us would ride sleds to school in the morning, and go riding after school. Or there were times we just used them to commute to school. GOOD TIMES. bf686bba-2f12-4dbf-b7c4-ae59603babfc_zpsc6mssyxw.png

Not even sure of the year but I think it was late 60s. A Polaris 'Andy'. I was only about 10 and I couldn't start it. I would go and get my neighbor who was 6 years older than me and a girl of all things to pull on the rope. It was a finicky thing. She probably still hates me.

Heck...I grew up in the deep south (SC), what the H*** did I know about snowmobiles...never even saw 1 until I was in my late 40s...well, that's not entirely true but never really saw 1 up close...first sled was an '87 Exciter...in the early 90s...

70 Bobcat....8th grade christmas present...guess my dad was an Evinrude fan...we beat the crap out of it...I always looked at the Cats of that era with envy....LOL

In early winter of 1968-69, my dad brought home a preowned 1966 Arctic Cat. I’m pretty sure it was a Model 140 Deluxe. It was heavy, red & white with a polar bear decal on the sides of the white hood. It was a lot of fun and the start of a long love affair with snowmobiling for me.

Compared to the rest of y'all, our 87 Indy Trail was a youngster. Although we loved every minute of it

My Dad had a 1973 - wish he had never sold it. Of all the sleds I rode growing up that was by far my favorite! But I always wanted a ‘74 or ‘75.....
