I agree, follow the snow.
Funny enough, I didn't even know Bergland, MI and north had snow til I looked at a few snow cams this past Monday (looks like maybe a foot in some places). Just been too busy with two jobs, lots of vacation time saved though and ready to travel.

I gotta go get my sled at Pats and thinking about heading up in two weeks. hopefully get her broke in while I am up there. Just kinda scary with snow in the forecast for me back home and no sled in the garage... Well other than the relic that is...

We are wishing to go north of LaCrosse, up into the hills, and river bluffs, and all around Durand. Just unbelievable scenery, but it takes good snow in those areas due to the hilly terrain. North, east of Readstown is hilly terrain also. Kickapoo valley very scenic.

2 trips to the UP planned, end of Dec and middle Feb.

My wish though is out West, I still really want to ride a mountain sled in the powder. I'm not really interested in navigating through tight tree lines, I just want to blast through some meadows and valleys while snow hits me in the face:) Carve some tight turns and find out real quick how out of shape I am.

Riding anywhere north of 28 is always on the list of "spur of the moment" trips. Hopefully Wawa this year and I'm trying to keep some cash set aside for something west.

So far I have the following trips set:
December 15-17/18 to Mass or Rockland Area
December 26-Jan 1st - Hayward, WI, we have a family cabin there and I take my 3 boys. We take 2 sleds and 2 four wheelers. No trail on our lake so its free range for the 4 wheelers. Usually ride the sleds over to Anglers Haven, Trails End and the Chippewa Flowage. We don't activate the TV or internet so its a good quality time with my boys.....most of the time! If anyone wants to ride Western WI we are there are ready to ride.
January 3rd-7th - Ride with Polaris Dan in Mass City
January 17th-22nd - Minocqua, WI with local guys
February 14th-Feb 19th - Mercer, WI with local guys
Going to try and squeeze in a off trial trip if possible int he UP.

Obviously, I save all my vacation and fun money into sleddin trips. I have always wanted to head West but not in the cards for me this year.

^^ Sounds like my winter plans - I have 11.5 days (Can carry 5) for this year, and 30 more as of Jan 1. Pretty much go where the snow is until mid-March or so.

Our club has 5 weekend trips planned, hopefully get there by SLED for once.

Our hub bearing is central Forest Co. and we usually spoke out from there.
If snow permits, we will explore more trails in the southwest direction....Oneida, Langlade, Lincoln CO.
Not sure if this will be a second year of not getting a MI trail permit or not....the snow depths will dictate.

We'll spend the Christmas/New years Holiday at our cabin on the north shore and then probably be up there every other weekend this winter except for a trip to Utah in Mid- Feb.

No plans just wait for the white gold and ride. Want to ride Wisconsin more if they have the snow. I like the Sunday - Thursdays rides with less people. Usually I go to Rockland MI on the 15 for a few days.

We will go out west 3-4 times. Destination depends on the snow. All west trips are 6-7 days.

If I get any trips up north in WI will just be a bonus.

Nice area but how many times can you ride those same trails over and over?

I've often had this same question. Would love to have a place up north in the snow belt but I think I would get bored or too comfortable on the trails which could lead to another problem! :joyous: I could see doing overnighters from a base which could help reduce local boredom. It would be interesting to hear others opinions that own places.

Sure it can get somewhat repetitive but we have done backpack trips which gets us 200+ miles away from base. And after 15 years we still have 8 different directions to head out into....LOL
Guys that rent go to the same places over and over as well.

AND if I find bed bugs....at least I know they are MY bedbugs....LOL

snobuilder, please don't let it out too much on your PREMO area!!! Those 2 county's that start with "L", that is. It's still pretty much undiscovered, and not ever crowded!!! Always on our bucket list, and a riding bud and his wife's favorite area.
