In low snow conditions i wouldn't go to Gaylord area too much traffic trails would be beat. From what everyone on here is telling me Wisconsin has the snow right now but temps are going to warm up next wk .I was planning on the Munising area myself for next wk if they got good lake effect from yesterday and today they also might stay below freezing next wk so i would also do mid to eastern Up also IMA

why would you drive thru the state of wis. that has great riding conditions from Milwaukee to about rhinelander to go where there is no snow? or very minimal.

all three local weathermen here are calling for 28 and 30 degrees over the weekend.

Winter is going on hiatus from Monday-Friday next week.... Sucks to say, but you might be looking at 40 degrees in anyone of those locations next Tuesday.

You big group riders and your long term planning just doesnt work with years like this one and last year. Myself and my riding buddy go at the drop of a hat during years like this one.

My 2cents worth (cuz last I checked,... thats all I have),...

Unless you are committed to wanting to have motels booked,..ect.
Like Timo mentioned a couple posts up,....
From YOUR area,... hit the Mid-Wisconsin area (that has TONS of snow),...
and if it gets to out of hand in the warm dept.,... THEN head up to the Munising
or other areas.
It will hardly be "out of your way" AND,... why pass up good snow if you don't
have to travel as far.
Forecasts as we know can change in a heartbeat.
I am sure you and the gang will be pleased either way.
Unless it gets into the 50's,.... You are surely going to find
a place to enjoy on the way up!
I am only about 40 miles North of Green Bay,... and WE only
have HALF the snow Green Bay recieved and a Quarter of what
Appleton and Oshkosh (and West of there) recieved,.....
and I just came in from a 30mile spin locally,... and the trails got better
South and West of me,.... but for the Winters we have been having,....
Heck,... I had a blast!
Have a GREAT Time!
Happy New Year!
:)

(I will now retreat back to my corner)

I would venture north and stop somewhere north of Madison and scope it out, as suggested. We got a bunch of snow over a week ago, and for the most part, it hasn't melted at all. We've had cloudy days and now getting really cold for the rest of this week. There has been a ton of traffic, but now with the holidays in the past, the traffic should slow way down so we can get things groomed back into shape. If it gets too warm then head farther north. There just isn't any new snow in the forecast though.

IM still up in the air with this...
I know conditions arent ideal for this week( i have to get some miles) ,but taking a pole here Im leaving tomorrow morning

Due to your experience where would you go????
South central wiscosin , Northern lower MI or somewhere else?
Thanks for your input

South central WI is gonna be shot after today. This wknd will be the dagger. Lots of bare spots today already and it's only 1230pm. It's 30 and sunny and traffic is high to say the least. Might wanna head to northern lower MI. Any southern exposures are gonna be mud, the woods trails are getting pushed out. The best places are out in the middle of the open fields. The forecast for this coming week is looking awful ugly too. Already talk of closing the trails.
