Which Studs Should I Use

I am not looking for performance but rather to improve the control on my wifes sled a little. I found a mint condition 2001 MXZ with 500 miles on it so it is a very short track. What is a basic stud that will just give her a little more control on hardpack and icy corners?

you probly have an inch or less track lug on that sled so a 1.25" carbide stud is best. Woodys gold diggers is good..
I'd suggest a 96 stud pattern which is 2 per row.
All studs in the center of track.

I've had good luck with JohnMaster. He was good about answering questions on the first sled I put studs in.

I've got a 2001 MXZ 600 and it's a FUN sled. Be sure to set up the front & back suspension for your wife's weight and driving style. If you get that right she will out ride almost any other sled in the corners and make it easy to ride.

I would also recommend tunnel protectors to keep the studs from hitting the tunnel cooler.

Woodystraction.com has an application guide. Enter year and model and they recommend studs, number, pattern. You also have to match the runners / skegs. Also, studs allow for faster stopping which improves safety. Tunnel protectors also a good idea if not already installed. Will need backers and nuts.

Camoplast also offers tracks with studs already installed. I forget the model names of the tracks but I think ice ripper or ice attack. Might be cheaper, easier.

I've had real good luck with Woodys Gold Diggers. Very durable. My last sled I did double backers down the middle. I rode 4 years without a break off or pull out and they were still in very good shape when I sold it.

Always been a Woodys fan and have used their Signature Series SS studs. Call me anal but I hate rusty looking studs.
