Which Viper????

Open for suggestions. Ordered a 2016 Viper yesterday from Pats, after looking at material for several days I picked one. Dont want to say which one yet but wondering what kind of advice I can get to either stick with my decision or I can still change order. If you have not noticed I believe ther are 18 different Vipers. (WAY TOO MANY IN MY OPINION)

Wow can't believe your giving up the Apex!
Well since your more of trail rider I believe we can rule out the xtx's since they're 141 and uncoupled.
Big miles in UP I would rule out the 128 shorties. So that leaves the 137 Ltx's or the new 146 Ltx-dx.
So there's 3 ltx models, basically pick kind of shocks you like. Basic, floats, or fox clickers.
Then there the 2 dx models. One has extra fuel tank. The other is a 137 track with saddle bags.
Whew....almost there....Lol
So I'd say between the LT-X LE (137x1.25 ripsawII) with fox clickers or STX- DX (137x 1.6 COBRA) basic shocks.

I'd like to try 1.6 COBRA track but would rather have better shocks.... sooo I'd go LT-X LE! Lol
And I'd agree, too many models.

Hey Kip, how'd I do? Am I hired? Lol

I went with the LTX DX in 15 and bought two. Basic shocks for the softest ride for an old guy like me. Extremely happy with my decision. Wife told me it's the best riding sled she ever had. Enjoy!!

I would go with the RTX, being a trail rider, any flavor you like LE, SE, DX.
they say the 137 bridges the bumps... they say alot of things, either the trail is good or Junk is won't matter if it's 129 or 137....., stand up and pin it. I like this sled standing up riding over ripped up trails
I put 2000+ miles on 15 Viper LTX this year, if I buy again next year going with 129. JMO

I have a 2015 Yamaha LTX LE and cannot be happier with it. Coming off a Nytro the shorter track is nice and handled so much better. I did have a few 300 mile days on it. After the first ride felt great and no problems. I have the 1.75 track also thought it was great except on ice it likes to slide out.

Is there some new offering this year that has you ordering one vs. getting a great deal on a 14 or 15 leftover?
Couple weeks back I saw basic 2014 Viper going for $ 7900.00
I'd figure the deluxe models at $1000 to $2000 more.

Eagle1, you're hired, you did awesome! For sure 137 inch for trail rider. 128's a thing of the past in the U.P. Just my humble opinion:) I always thought the L.E. and S.E. would be the most popular models and we have done well with them but the DX models have outsold them big time in the last year. Nice options on the DX models and they're cheaper. Not saying it's better suited for all types of riding just giving you all my sales history!

Kip,
I would think the DX sold more because most people, like me are just plain trail riders, not ditch banger or jumpers and want a simple setup and soft ride, proven technology. And the most goodies for the buck. In other words, old farts like me want simple and cheap, lol. I take that back, there ain't nothing cheap about our sport. Pushing 3k and still loving the Viper!!!!!

Paul - so won't have any miles on the sled for 2015 then right? Did Kip have any to test ride? I rode the 137 like you and I had talked and really liked it on the trails in the UP. Felt a little short off road and did not do as well as the Nytro XTX in the powder, but certainly turned better in the corners. I think for the type of riding you are doing, I second what eagle has stated.

Snowbuilder - where did you see Vipers for $7900? That I would be interested in.

3500 miles on my LTX SE 2014. Im loving this sled. That being said, if your not an aggressive rider, i would opt for the DX.
