A Company signed papers on mine property and fully intend to start a new mine in White Pine using the existing infrastructure, gonna start hiring for drilling process next summer. Hopefully start hiring miners is 4 years. Hundreds of jobs. Very good news for this areas economy!

Let's hope it all pans out, that area in particular not to mention the U.P. as a whole needs this to happen. Very encouraging news to say the least. It's about time for some Good News.-Mezz

In that case maybe the Mobile will reopen with Premium gas.

Good News for White Pine...that place is Huge we been all over the mine and wow thats a big land deal there......I thought half the battle with copper mine was getting it "smelt"? and the Good Ol USA does not give nor will ever again let smelting resume? are they shipping to Canada? I belive thats whayt they did in the last years of the mine? this would be the chance for someone looking to move to Da Up!!!time to start packing if your looking to move...

That is great news for the area! A guy should buy up all the cheap houses in the area, once the deal is a done deal of course. ;)

Yes they are shipping to Canada. The Rep. from the company who bought the land was on the local radio this morning (y101). He mentioned using the Ontonagon Port and the rail road spur in White Pine and that they are both in good shape.He also said all mining permits transferred over on the sale, and that there is a huge reserve just north of the original mine. He was very educational. The way he explained it, it is a done deal.

Too bad they ripped the tracks out going into Ontonagon. Oh well, they'll just have to rebuild it if they use that port.
Very good thing for White Pine and Ontonagon COunty!

This is great news. My dad was hired there in 1969 and he spent years there. When they hired him in 1969 there were 3500 people employed!!! This is huge for the area!!! Finally some hope!
