That.... No matter what, soccer just plain SUX!!! I tired to watch it...I just couldn't get into it...I really dislike soccer, and guess I don't understand what's so great about it...??? It's painfully slow....and those damn horn things are annoying.....I have always told my girls that they should try everything once (when it comes to sports)...but now I am praying that they don't ever play soccer...OMG, can you imagine girls playing that game!!!....YIKES!!! 2 Hours of that!!! Oh **** no!!! I mean I love my girls and they play softball, and basketball...but I have sat through 0-0 basketball games, and 1 to 1 softball games, where the catcher can't even throw the ball to the pitcher..it goes to second base, or the outfield every third throw (UGH!!..drives me nutz..lol )...I know they are young but it's hard for me to watch sometimes...especially when they all cry when they lose...UGH!!! "There's no crying in baseball"!!!!! lol... I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE GIRLS AND SOCCER....Sorry female sports fans..but I can't watch the WNBA either...it bores me to tears....I am sure many of you ladies won't like my comments...but it is how I honestly feel...and many of you know it's true, you just won't say anything.

So...guess I'll be the jerk...lol...sorry but I had to get that off my chest...thank good football season is just around the corner.

I love soccer !!! and it's a way faster game then baseball to watch all them baseball players do is scratch and itch and spit and wiggle never seen so many wierd things as I do in baseball Then need to speed that game up no more then 30 seconds between pitches if the batter is not ready too bad same goes for pitchers that don't get that ball to the plate at least soccer its on a time clock of 90 minutes and it keeps on going even in penatly and injury situations keeps the game moving !!!!

Worst part about watching soccer is the constant humming noise. THe sport itself sucks too. There's like 2 goals scored the entire game. And all it is, is a bunch of girly guys that run around and play in the grass.

Timeouts & Commercials

Like most sports, just watch the last 2 minutes. At least soccer the clock is running. Unlike NBA, NFL , 2 mins with timeouts and commercials can take 15 mins.
Now thats boring.

If they want to make soccer more interesting then they need to:
  1. Make the field smaller
  2. Let the players hit eachother
  3. Instead of getting carded for a foul let them have a 2 or 5 min break
  4. And for good measure play it on ice

There soccer is fixed. Otherwise as what others have said......soccer sucks.

The horns causing the humming we all heard during the World Cup is mainly something you find in South America and Africa it is rare to hear it here in the States.

Question for everyone, what is the average size of the crowd at an NBA, NFL, and MLB game??

As for it being a slow sport yes it can be but most Baseball games are even slower. To be a soccer player you are by far in better shape then a baseball player and even a football player. Let’s look at the game, Soccer is played on a 120yrd long by 75 yards wide field and is 90min long broken into 2 45min halves to which you are running the entire time. During this time you are using your feet as a football player would use his hands and you’re not even looking down your looking where you are going watching your teammates to make passes and or take shots on goal. Soccer players can place the ball at a team mates foot from up to 50 yards away and a well struck soccer ball can reach upwards of 95mph. The only part of your body with the exception of the goalkeeper you cannot use is your hands. Most goals are scored off of corner kicks then directed on goal using your head, think about it a ball coming at you at maybe 75mph allowing it to strike your head and be able to direct it where you want it to go!

I could go on and on about soccer but it’s a personal thing I guess, here in our house soccer is a daily part of life and will be paying a good chunk of my 2 daughter’s college education. Soccer is the #1 sport for girls/women currently in the United States.

After I see some of the responses to my question above I will chime back in.

Soccer = 3,608,359 a year.
NFL = 17,341,012 a year.
NBA = 21,389,899 a year
MLB = 73,418,479 a year
Nascar = 7,327,651 a year

Soccer, while fun to play, is not fun to watch. Seriously Americans need action or scoring. Watching people kick a ball around and score 1 point in a couple hours isn't going to win people over. At least in say hockey, there are collisions and 10x as many shots on goal as there is in soccer. For most people here it's just too boring.

Wags: FACTS:

As you see from the figures above^^^^ not many people in america agree with you. Soccer is disliked no matter how hard the libral media stuffs it down everybody's throat..The stuff you said about soccer having better athletes is just plain rubbish...the conditioning football players go through is much harder....the one true thing you said was that it was the number one sport for women(and european type men with limp wrists) to participate in ...THAT'S TRUE...but even women don't like to watch it. So ur daughters have scholarships to play soccer??? Good for you...My daugthers need to get good grades or they aren't going to college....PERIOD!! I'm a realist, and even if my daugthers got college scholarships to play soccer...their chances of playing Pro soccer for the next 30 years and making a living at it are POOR!!!

I could start another war about title 9, and how it's ruined sports for men...by adding programs for women (programs that don't make any money..like soccer)...but I'll leave that for another post...lol

The baseball figure is based on over 2,400 games, the soccer number is based on a avg of 300 games!

Wags - don't take any of this to heart. Soccer just doesn't have that much support in the US. I don't like to watch it, and have a little vendetta going against my local soccer club because they totally interfere with our softball organization's fields all the time, but the honest truth is that it's a good sport for those that play it, it's good for the kid's health and excercise, and it's huge at the young ages. So, I support getting kids involved in something, even soccer, but gosh, I just can't stomach watching it..... and it sure seems like the majority of the US men (who primarily watch sports), seem to agree. Just not going to get that big of a following...

lets see.....whats harder in any sport.....hhhmmmmmm.....30 seconds up a baseline....nope.....10 seconds to a dunk.....nope.....1.20 seconds for a route pass.....nope.....3 minute round.....nope.....walking a fairway......nope.....

running back and forth for 1-1/2 hours while getting chased/kicked/tripped/headed/shoved/elbowed/spiked and whatnot......ding,ding,ding....we have a winner.....SOCCER

i would thought hockey but its only half as long but just as tough....those 2 sports are the hardest on a person....anyone says its a puski sport has never set foot on the field and tried it even for 1 minute....all you armchair sports dudes would be panting after 3 times back and forth i'm afraid....none of you actually have THE RAISINS to play soccer let alone any kind of stamina over 5 minutes.....go have a try at practice with the local team.....but you better start with 8th graders.....even then they might laugh you off the field
