Who's your Banker?

Does your sno group use a single money manager to pay for gas, food, and road fuel for the towing equipment? Or does everyone pay their own way? It seems to speed things up to chip in $300-400 bucks a piece, and let ONE person pay the tolls. At the end of the trip, everyone gets a refund if there is overage. Sweet!

One person usually pays for all the fuel in the truck, and then we divide it up at the end of the trip.

We usually just fly solo on everything else.

I keep asking my buddies to do this but they won't. Some of my partners have newer Ski-Doo's that get 18mpg, I have a Poo that gets 9-10mpg and another guy has a Four stroke Yammie that gets about 20. We like to ride about 150-200 miles a day. About 5:30 I like to stop for a nice juicy steak, my buddies eat cheeseburgers and some of the girls only have a salad cuz they're watching their waist. Back at the cabin, because of my bad back, I need at least a double bed to myself each night, my riding partners take turns sleeping on the floor.
It would be so much easier if we all chipped in and one person paid for gas, food and lodging. I just can't figure out why they don't like the idea.

The guy with the truck doesn't pay for fuel. One guy pays for fuel one the way up, the other guy pays for the fuel on the way home. Or split as needed. Pay your own way the rest of the trip.

Damn, I like the first part of that! I'm always the guy with the truck lately :)

Split it!

We do lodging, food, and truck gas everyone pays their own sled gas. But we eat the best food, not bar stuff. Total $350.00 that's with gas from Chicago. Think Snow! (got that from John) Happy Trails (from me)

Our group pays me for the lodging in cash before we even leave the cities. Those that ride with me each put in truck gas money which is calculated by my estimated mpg for the 320 miles x2 divided by # of guys in my truck. This year it is $53 for the lodging and $55 for gas.
Everyone pays for their own sled gas and lunches. It is not fair if one guys sled gets 10 mpg and one gets 18 mpg to divide it equally and all put in the same amount of money. Plus some guys put in premium and some regular. I do usually sit at the pump and collect the money so we can move the line along then pay when everyone has gone through.

For lunches it is the same thing, we have one guy that like to get extra appetizers for himself and usually a bigger meal and it is not fair to pay extra for his stuff if we all put in the same amount of money.

We all pitch in for meals we cook in the bush and now everyone makes a meal when at the cabin or apartment.

This has worked for our group for 11 years and we have had no problems.

When we do our girls trips we have one person handle all the lodging, and then we pay her. Another girl handles the kitty for the drinks. We pitch in as needed and then just run the tab. Some gals drink mixers which are more than the beer girls, but they are pretty conscious of that and throw in some extra to cover. Everything else is on your own, although usually we will have a few people group up for gas and take turns paying. It just helps the line at the pumps move a lot faster.

The gas for the truck for the trip up and back is split evenly between the amount of guys along, and the cabin is done the same way. You are your own for sled gas, and food.

Not a big fan of the kitty way of doing it. I went on a trip a few years back with a group that always put money in a kitty fund for gas and food. I had never done that but I thought might be worth a shot. Well we had 9 guys each guy put in $100.00 by the second day they were asking for another $100.00 from everybody. We went through $900.00 in one day. I could go for a whole week back then and not spend more than $300.00 for gas and food. I would just get the cheapest thing on the menu but there were several guys that were getting prime rib dinners and then drinking the expensive beers out of the kitty fund. Well I gave them another $100.00 and by the end of the next day they said we were out and wanted another $100.00 from everyone. At that time I said I'll just pay for everything myself and kept my money to myself. So I'm not a big fan of doing it that way. It did however make gas stops go quicker as one guy just went in and paid for the gas.

x2. This has always worked for us, but we don't usually travel with big groups so it makes it a bit easier.

Gas money and lodge'n gets divided between #passengers. Food and stops depends on the group. Sled gas gets divided at the pump or iou at the next stop any round downers or forgeties and yer sled wont start the next day.

The kitty always get messed up with us, someone always does the porterhouse for lunch when the rest do bugers or sandwiches then someone bitches. So we just split gas for truck and lodging evenly, food drinks gas for sleds pay yourown.
We will keep the gas pump running filling the sleds chip in your share one goes in and pays.

We split the truck gas, split the room cost, pay our own sled gas, kitty the ride stops, and split the food as we eat as a group in a large lodge and cook our own breakfast & dinners, works great! BYO beverage for your leisure time at the lodge, mix gets put in food cost and Split by # of people on the trip. If you miss a dinner or breakfast it is your problem. these have been our rules for ever, do not like em find another group. Yes we like to ride, anywhere from 100 to 150 mi. per day, then relax at the lodge till?????

Will split the cost of the gas

If food is done in a group at a cabin, menu is made up before hand and split up and you bring your share

food on trail, sled gas, bar, you are on your own (We are big girls and boys now, lol)

If something arises...we put heads together, democracy wins.
