Who's your Banker?

Kitty up $100 as needed. Pays for everything. You take a day off from riding or miss a meal that's your own problem. Yammi 4 stroke or gas sucking pig - whatever. Has worked for our group for years. If I end up paying $100 more for a week of vacation I don't really care. It is an expensive sport to begin with. I can understand that for some groups it would cause problems. Know your group. Birds of a feather always have more fun together than birds and cows.

If you are basing that comment on income alone, I don't agree. Some of the people in the group I rode with last weekend have family incomes over 100K while others barely make 30K. That has no effect on how much fun we have together. Some just might have to watch what they spend a little more closely than others. You know what they say:
Any dummy can live on 100K You have to be pretty resourceful to make it on 30.

Sorry upsledder - didn't mean to infer anything about income. What matters most on a successful trip is that everybody basically wants to do the same thing. It doesn't work when there are several agendas going on at the same time. If you can put together a group where everyone wants to ride 200 miles a day - great. If you can put together a group that is good with hamburgers during the day and a more expensive menu for the night - great. If everyone is on the same page with booze that is good too. I have been lucky enough to be associated with such a group for over 20 years. 20 years ago most of our sleds were worth more than our houses. We used the kitty then. We have all progressed to the point where our houses are now worth more than our sleds and we still use a kitty. It is not about $. It is all about getting along with each other and having fun.
