you can use your card.. we put the sled in your name.. just print off that slip and take it with you.. when you stop to get your trailpass they will ask for your dnr number..

What do you mean previous owner? You are either borrowing a sled from a friend, in which case you would need to show you have authorization to ride it.

OR you recently purchased a sled. In this case you would need to register the sled in Wisconsin prior to riding it in Michigan. You can register it online and print out the proof of registration.

I give my DNR number to my buds to buy MI permits to speed things up at lando gas station. Everyone is registered in WI.

Some places that you go to buy MI trail permits you don't need to give them any information. A couple of buddys had this happen last year.

I don't remember doing anything but pulling out old DNR number shelling out the dough walked away with MI trail permit. Then counter lady droned on about no hunting or fishing in MI with trail permit & I kinda looked at her like she was speaking Canadian.lol Why would I hunt & fish with a trail permit. LOL

Minnesota is like this for a trail permit. Sleds are registered in WI, but all you have to do is walk into the license bureau, tell them you want X permits and bingo, walk out the door with as many as you want/need, no questions asked.

Now if you get stopped with just the riding permit, I don't think you'd be going any farther without a fine.

I've never ben asked for info, just the beloved sportcard. But even then, When I didn't have it with me last year, they used their own to save me $1

Oh my gosh??????? Sounds like a bunch of ????? jabbering. Just walk in and say I need a trail permit and give them $45. bingo and away you go. It is not rocket science or a major life commitment. I would register your sled so if you get pulled over and they do check beyond you having the permit sticker that the sled does not appear stolen.
