If the sled is registered, if the registration is current, if you have the registration card from the previous owner (unsigned, not sure how it is done in WI), if the sled isn't reported stolen, and if you have a trail pass you SHOULD be fine.

I recommend registering it in your name if you are the owner though....

You can register on line on the DNR website in Wisconsin and print out a temp copy to carry with you until the official stickers arrive. Done this a few times, takes less than 10 minutes and a credit card.

I have two sleds registered in WI. Don't need to register in MI - just get the trail permits. Have NEVER had to give them my WI registration number to get trail permits. Just plop down the $$, and you get the trail permits.

BTW, I did try to rebel one year and not buy the trail permit. I do a lot of riding off of the DNR trails, including Bootjack, and didn't think the price was fair. But I did ride from Calumet to Lake Linden on the DNR trail to pick up the Bootjack trails and got stopped for no trail permit. The guy was nice, and let me go buy the trail permit - I stopped back where he was sitting to prove I bought it....the DNR likes to sit in their trucks where the trail crosses the road....

Ohhh how I long for the good 'ol days of rough trails and no big brother watching over your shoulder at every step....
