WI State Fair Opens Temporary Hospital

To start with this thread post #'s 3,4,6,7 and 9. Didn't go through whole thread. And I've talked to people personally, Wi residents, who have family members or acquaintance 's who are in medical field.
The number of cases increasing significantly because of much more testing, but these are not filling beds.
So much twisting of information to make this seem worse than it is. (Not saying its not a bad situation). In your link the story in the journal sentinel, it says one hospital 94% full. But further down it says this

The number of people hospitalized in Wisconsin due to the virus*reached a new high Tuesday, with 646 coronavirus patients occupying beds across the state, including 205 patients in ICU beds.

No way these 800 some patients are overwhelming the system

Nobody who works in healthcare is telling you they aren't busy as **** right now. Every hospital I work with in Northeast Wisconsin, Southeast Wisconsin, and Central Wisconsin are in near panic mode. I would say the only hospital customers I have that are not completely on fire at the moment are in Western Wisconsin. At least those are the only locations not calling and screaming at our customer service staff because we can't keep up.

I actually miss the days back in the spring when I laid people off because hospitals were empty. I'd take a few weeks of that right now.

I see you are from Eleva! The little woman, her daughter and I were just talking about how to pronounce that name! We’ve been taking the scenic route on 10 lately between our two places. Where is the closest medical facility there? We are debating a consolidation location if not up north.

This Covid gets quite the opposite in opinion but no one seems to say or ask, what could or can we do differently?

Testing isn’t stopping the Covid.
Lockdowns didn’t stop the Covid.
Masks didn’t stop the Covid.
Staying in our homes didn’t stop the Covid.

What is the magic solution to this? I know this much, I’m not going to stop living my life the way I want to live it. I’m not being selfish, I’m not being un-caring of others, I’m not being reckless. There is nothing anyone has told or shown me to change how I live my life when it comes to the Covid. If that ever happens, I’ll take notice. Until then, see you all on the snow this winter....

Covid is an airborne virus. You can mask up or social distance or do whatever turns your crank. It doesn't matter. Sooner or later you and everyone else on the planet will be exposed to it. The Only way to stop it would be to get rid of all the air. That would present a whole bunch of new problems. For one my snowmobile wouldn't run right. All the hand wringing and speeches and rules and regulations will accomplish nothing more than prolonging this stupidity. 1000 new cases a day - who cares? All that means is a few more people will die in 2020 rather than 2021. Sorry folks that is the long and the short of it. For this the economy has been destroyed and the next generation of kids is getting dumber by the day.

EXACTLY! Was announced this morning that our Gov is launching a 6 figure advertising campaign recognizing his achievements during this "CRISIS" and pointing out the failure of the other side (Yeah right) for all the gullible people out there, don't forget we have many who haven't received a single unemployment check, yet he is launching a 6 figure advertising campaign which if you ask me is just a swift slap in the face for Wisconsinites. I cant wait for January...I need a throttle lever and 800 cc's to unload some frustrations on! uuuugh!!

Time to call the Gov and ask him exactly that!! it is beyond ridiculous!! meanwhile we are coming up with MILLIONS to highlight his achievements! way to go WISCO!!! GREAT JOB GOV!! NOT!!!!!
My father in law was taken to hospital via ambulance yesterday with all the symptoms of covid ( not saying he has it ) is now hospitalized, current diagnosis... severe pneumonia, performed covid test but was told this morning that wouldn't have results for up to 4 days, ok WAIT A MINUTE!! they post daily results on tv there are tests that can come back in minutes/hours, when I was in hospital took day and a half... 4 DAYS???? I just don't get it, I cant believe how a "VIRUS" has disrupted things as bad as it has and again something that is PUBLICLY noted to have a 99% survival rate, we have bigger issues folks

Exactly. September 1st the additional $300 people were supposed to get, executive order signed by Trump, hasn't been delivered yet, by the time Wisconsin gets off there butt and gets it figured out, that money will be gone. Sure, Evers fired the guy in charge of workforce development, but, nothing has been done about the additional $300.

Someone said Evers is also running adds telling people not to sign the recall papers, sorry Tony boy, I already signed! Lol

Even out here in backwoods MN you can get a Covid test and have the results in 20 minutes. And it is free. I know because I did it

They just setup free testing in a park here last week, all it did was make it s a reason for everyone and their brother and sister with the sniffles a reason to get tested. My wife talked to a co worker that had it done and it was negative. He figured it was allergies, but just wanted to make sure! lol Dude is highly educated too. If you're one of those types that always thinks they are sick of course you are going to go get the free test. and it is the start of cold season

Pronounced ee-lee-va( with short A sound on the end). Clinics in mondovi, osseo, plus big hospitals in eau Claire, three of them. All less then 15 miles.

I have an Aunt that lives there, nice little town. Wanna know how it got it's name? True story.

The village was originally named "New Chicago". The new grain elevator in town had the letters "ELEVA" (as in Elevator) painted on it just before winter struck and the painters quit for the season. Newcomers assumed the letters were the name of the village and it stuck. The village was founded in 1880. A post office called Eleva has been in operation since 1885.

This is the story. However, the reasons seem to differ. I have never heard the quit for the season. I've heard a thunderstorm forced the painters down and they went to the bar got drunk for three days and never finished. I've also heard they went to lunch and got drunk for three days and never finished. Not sure exactly what the truth is, but we do have a museum I should see if the answer lies in there. One of my dads friends bought the old feed mill and he painted "ELEVA. . . ." on the elevator, so its actually back on the elevator! Whatever the reason is, I'm glad it is not New Chicago.

And Gary, chances are I know your aunt. I've lived here over 40 years.
