Anyone ridden the wild rivers trail starting at rice lake and heading north towards superior? Contemplating an atv trip would like some feedback from anyone that has ridden this area. Thanks

The Wild River trail is an old railroad grade so it is pretty long and straight and boring, BUT there are many trails that connect to that. If you want GREAT trails, drive a little farther north to Iron River WI, you won't be disappointed!

It is a RR grade that runs along Hwy 53. Nothing special but it's not a bad ride. There are a few towns that give you a rest area (gas, food, bar,etc..). If you're going to try it, find a place mid way on the trail (Trego, Minong). I believe the main trail is open year round to ATV's but check first. I could be wrong.

I did check in to it and yes the wild rivers trail is open year round. With the suggestion of the Iron River trails, are they currently open? All I could find for info said that they close in the spring until the ground dries? Just thought I would ask with the lack of snow this year.

The Iron River WI trails are now closed til May 1st. You can still run the 2 Corridor (runs between Superior and Ashland) and you can ride the road routes. Years past they did open the trails earlier if they dried up sooner, could be the case this year. Many of the locals here use their machines year round and is the main source of transportation.

I live right on the wild river trail here in Trego...it is open year round unless the fire danger is at very high or extreme..We have other trails that branch off of it and there awesome but they do not open until the weekend of memorial day.
