Thanks for the suggestion on the windows. I hadnt thought of that. I also am trying to figure out a way to insulate the wheel wells. They frost up pretty good and are another likely source. But I cant permanently box them in without losing needed width for sleds. Maybe a removable insulated blanket type would work and not take up too much space when stored. Any other thoughts/ideas are welcomed.

I stayed this weekend with my oldest son. The only downside is no showers. But that have 50 AMP hookups and have dogbone adaptors if you don't have one. In the summer they have water hookups too. There is a vault toilet and then indoor restrooms when the hall is open.

That is really Far East, but good to know. I also learned that the trailhead in Crystal Falls allows overnight parking. No amenities though.

That place looks real nice. $64 per night for an electric site is a bit pricey. Great amenities though with the bar/restaurant and outdoor hot tub! We may have to try it out since Marquette is in an area we like to ride.

I believe this is located relatively close to downtown with restaurants/bars located within walking distance. So I just called this place and they said, they do NOT have any winter camping sites open. Maybe a change in policy...

We camped at Krupps last weekend. Their setup is great for riders but not exactly the rustic setting that most campers would prefer. They have 7 RV plug-in sites available in their large parking area. Every site was rented. Sites can be booked on their website. They also allow overnight parking in the same lot but you have to bring a generator If you want power. There was another half dozen overnight campers there also. Apparently they just added the plug-in sites this fall, and weren’t sure how it would go. From the looks of it, I’d say they are doing quite well. Not much for amenities but they have plans to build restrooms and showers for next year. Great location for riding and the Krupps store has everything you need, plus restaurants nearby. Nice folks too! We will definitely go back.

That is great to hear! I was the only one there last March 5 weekend. I parked next to one of the building and there was a 30amp plug in on the Power pole. I have a portable toilet and sink so the basic are handled. For just 2 nights it worked but a few more days a shower would be nice! I have a portable tent shower but bringing that much water is not ideal. especial in wintertime.

Well I was just checking on camping for this winter at William Mitchell State Park in Cadillac and saw no sites available. Apparently, they have construction going on there this year so it will be closed and no plans to continue winter camping at the park for the future. For me that was my favorite spot. Cadillac was that shortest drive from my house of the places I go. Which makes it a great spot to head for a weekend when my kids go with me. When you the only one paying for gas in the truck and 3 sleds. Camping helps the walet too. They had great shower facilities, access to the trails, and stable power hookups.

Sorry to hear that your go to spot is discontinuing winter RV hookups. It seems that more places are jumping into winter hookups, so it’s surprising that this facility is getting out. My wife, adult children, and dogs all enjoy the camping vs. a motel. It is a bit of a challenge finding places to stay, but it seems that more come online every year. Krupps just added the RV hookups last year and were sold out on weekends. I just heard another one opened in White Pine. I hope you are able to find a suitable replacement.

I was surprised too. They were never full. They of course cut down to maybe 30 sites. Of those, the most sites I ever saw filled were about half. For winter I thought that was good. They even had tent campers... I liked Krups when I was there did they open a bathhouse by chance?

I have not been back to Krupps since last winter. I was told they intended to construct a bath house over the summer, but judging from their website, I would say that probably did not happen. No mention made of a bath house, and at $40 per night my guess is it doesn’t include indoor showers and toilets. If that’s a dealbreaker, it’s best to call before booking.

We are staying at the Rippling River Resort in Marquette this weekend. They have quite a few RV sites open in the winter as well as numerous cabins. The camping sites are high at $69 per night, but the hot showers and restrooms are very nice. The bar and lodge area is great and they have a lighted outdoor fire pit area where folks hang out in the evening by the river. It’s at the base of the mountain so easy access for skiers and right on the snowmobile trail. Live music in the bar Friday and Saturday night was a plus. We went downtown yesterday and stopped by Blackrocks Brewery last night. All in all a nice weekend even though the race was canceled. Made reservations to return next fall.
