The NWS Marquette has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Sunday 7pm to Monday 7pm for the UP. Accumulation of 1 to 2 feet of snow is possible. Winds could gust in excess of 60 mph along the lakeshore and in the Keweenaw causing whiteout conditions. The Storm Watch may be upgraded to a Blizzard Warning if conditions permit.

The NWS has amended the Winter Storm Watch to Blizzard Warning. Snow accumulations of 14 to 21 inches are are possible with more likely in the higher terrains. Winds expected to gust in excess of 65 mph in the Keweenaw. Wide spread power outages are possible due to downed tree limbs.
Let's hope the severity of this is not worse than or a repeat of the Thanksgiving storm. Fingers crossed 🤞.

If I had to do it again and I mean that in a good way first improvement would be a propane full house generator. 👍
Yup, spot on whitedust! We've had ours for years now, and it just gives you a very secure feeling. Always worried when we would be away from home.

Still have to have someone checking on generator, as I have one and the Thanksgiving storm wind was blowing so much it wound up getting into the intake and plugging the air filter and shut it down then when trying to restart killed the battery. So when I got home had to clean all the snow out of it charge the battery to get it back running. Now working on moving battery into the garage to eliminate battery issues and building a secondary box around generator to help keep snow out in the future. So they are not fool proof.

I remember one year we had a power outage in December for over 12 hours and all my Christmas lights were on and my neighbors kept asking me if we had power when the rest of the street was off. We were the only house with power on the street.

What brand Gen Set was that goofy? I have a Kohler, and its literally been buried in blowing snow, and never had that happen?

Generic, did find out yesterday this can be a common problem with them. Supposedly they have a fix for it so I will be looking into it. I’ve had this one 9 years and this is first year ever having this issue. Crazy!

Generac? I am surprised Generac would have issues with snow. Headquartered and manufactured in Wisconsin.
Do you think, like I said though first time in 9 years. But also had neighbor have same issue so really had to do with the type of storm more than anything.

I'm also surprised as I thought Generac was possibly the best unit out now? My Kohler unit has endured all kinds of storms, and has been buried in snow several times with no issues. Our Kohler has a Composite material housing, and hood designed to be quieter than Aluminum? However, I have had some issues with composite enclosure which I have been told is corrected. My 20 KW Kohler cost around a $1000 more than the 20KW Generac, but the warranty term was 3 times greater than theat of the Generac. I think they are both excellent choices, and know many who have them. I worked for a freight company that hauled a lot of parts to Kohler, and finished Gen Sets of all sizes out. They appeared to me a first class manufacturer. But I would go with whichever one has the best local dealer for service. My electrition had started handeling Kohler when we purchased ours, and that helped us make our decision. Because when it's down you are out of juice, and in a bind. That's not what you bought it for. Hopefully you get your problem resolved, and eleminated. ;)

Same thing happened to my neighbors General, we dug all the snow out from around ( we have had over 40” so far in 2025) it and reset it, it now works fine.he leaves for Florida in a couple days so I will keep an eye on it.
